Piyopico Supercharged June 18, 2011 Share June 18, 2011 I have never heard anyone lamenting how he wished he had another million on his deathbed. My FIL wished he had the courage to do the right thing and reconcile with his estranged children, as you know, asian fathers are not the type to say sorry. Raymondism Twincharged June 18, 2011 Author Share June 18, 2011 MCF bro Turboflat4 just posted this on another thread. i cut and paste cos i thot its interesting: A boat docked in a tiny Mexican village. An American tourist complimented the Mexican fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took him to catch them. "Not very long," answered the Mexican. "But then, why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?" asked the American. The Mexican explained that his small catch was sufficient to meet his needs and those of his family. The American asked, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?" "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, and take a siesta with my wife. In the evenings, I go into the village to see my friends, have a few drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs. I have a full life." The American interrupted, "I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help you! You should start by fishing longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat." "And after that?" asked the Mexican. "With the extra money the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second one and a third one and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers. Instead of selling your fish to a middle man, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own plant. You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico City, Los Angeles, or even New York City! From there you can direct your huge new enterprise." "How long would that take?" asked the Mexican. "Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years," replied the American. "And after that?" "Afterwards? Well my friend, that's when it gets really interesting," answered the American, laughing. "When your business gets really big, you can start buying and selling stocks and make millions!" "Millions? Really? And after that?" asked the Mexican. "After that you'll be able to retire, live in a tiny village near the coast, sleep late, play with your children, catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife and spend your evenings drinking and enjoying your friends." And the moral of this story is: ......... Know where you're going in life... you may already be there.

Nunchakubruce Neutral Newbie June 18, 2011 Share June 18, 2011 Do not be afraid of the Grim Reaper. Even if you are sick with uncomfortable symptoms, live your life to the fullest and not worry for we would not know when the day comes. So why worry? No regrets whatsoever because we can never turn back the clock anyway. Regrets will cause you to be unhappy and you will be depressed which does not do you any good. KARTer 2nd Gear June 18, 2011 Share June 18, 2011 ya.... but we are all brainwashed by the government to study hard, get a degree and find a good job.... then when we started working, pple around us will say we need to be successful....... come to think of it, no need to be very successful/outstanding in making money or career, dont even need to be fairly successful, just be more or less successful and main thing to be happy while not neglecting basic needs of family and ourselves.... Celicar Turbocharged June 18, 2011 Share June 18, 2011 I think the top 5 has to be taken in the context of which culture it is written in. What I'm saying is Top 5 in a western society may be different from top 5 in Asian/African/whatever non-western society. 1 I can think of that should be there is "I wish I'd taken care of my health better". Choose to do things to improve your health NOW.

Hermitage 1st Gear June 18, 2011 Share June 18, 2011 How come the top 5 regrets doesn't have : 1) I wished I have done more to help others. I guess it's because one doesn't really care too much about others when one is dying? Too pre-occupied with one's own mortality for that.
