Esmond Neutral Newbie June 16, 2011 Share June 16, 2011 I'm planning to install one Double Din in Car DVD, I finally found one quite impressive set: with DVD, CD, TV, GPS Plus 3G internet. Found it at market place in mycarforum. Called the seller, plan to take a look first, before I go, anybody has the experience on this, because the seller said sold quite a lot of sets already. Is it working as advertised? Especially the Digital TV playing? Ads link is here: http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?autoco...p;product=20147 One picture impress me most: with MSN online Some searched youtube links for your reference: ↡ Advertisement
Russlin Neutral Newbie June 16, 2011 Share June 16, 2011 Bought the set 2 weeks ago, and I installed it in the same day at Jurong East, it cost me $50, but it takes 2.5 hours. Overall it is a quite nice device, most attractive points: 1. Fast response: I can Watch TV and 3D voice navigation in the same time and keep the bluetooth on, my old device is quite laggy if I turn on the GPS. I thought the reason is the 256MB ram and fast CPU. 2. Digital TV: Charp and steady in the open area, especially on AYE and PIE. Some weak signal places are not able to view DIGITAL TV, no Channel U (my wife like channel U, sad!). 3. Reverse Camera has fast response, less than 0.1 second i guess. 4. Bluetooth mic-phone is very clear, almost nobody (the other party) knows I am using hands free call. 5. 3G/wifi internet, this feature is quite new, I usually use it listen the music online and check my email or do some google search. The speed is quite fast. 6. I like the street directory map inside, but it is a pity it is not navitable. 7. Support thumb drive, my daught will ask me play her cartoons from her favorite cartoon movie thumb drive, now she has learned to play by herself. hehe. Overall, I love this device, it deserve it's name: ROAD Emperor. My family likes it very much. Here is some suggestion, Find a better strong antenna, because some area in Singapore has weak D-TV signal, I have ordered one so called 36dbi strong d tv antenna, but still on the way. not sure it works or not. Esmond Neutral Newbie July 23, 2011 Author Share July 23, 2011 Digital TV? Tot Singapore stop the trial DTV broadcasting? Yes. Singapore Digital TV is still on, even the HD digital TV is still on. But there is only one HD5 is on. Watch them on the road everyday now (July 2011)

Esmond Neutral Newbie July 23, 2011 Author Share July 23, 2011 have you install it yet? Installed last sunday, it seems the seller is very busy in this Road Emperor, in his place, 3 technicians are installing 5 units in 5 cars. I am on of them, the installer is very professional, they even explain every step of what he is doing, if you stand beside him. I think I can un-install / install by myself now. hehe, not difficult, but need some tools. Playing with it for almost one week, what i FEEL is really amazing. I thought this one must be from those high-end manufacturer, because the sound quality is even better than my old Pioneer set, and the FM radio is also very nice, the last amazing point is the navigation part, it can set mid point (I can go to A first then go to B), which is quite useful for me. I can use my iPhone's hot spot wifi sharing to enable the wifi internet of this Road Emperor. As for the TV, what I install the Analog TV + Digital TV, that means I can switch between them when needed. But over all the TV reception is not good in Singapore. On those express road: AYE, PIE, the digital TV is sharp and clear. but in those HDB area only Analog TV can work when the car is not moving. overall the TV is good and sharp, but the stability is still sensitive on the location, the TV signal is not strong in Singapore I think. I recommend this to all of you, it is a good choice if you plan to install a head unit.
Picanto 3rd Gear July 24, 2011 Share July 24, 2011 its a bad choice. why go and buy a china head unit? get at least something decent such as pioneer, alpine etc
Streamium70 2nd Gear July 28, 2011 Share July 28, 2011 installed a pioneer DVH2350 (2 din DVD headunit) about 3wks ago @ $470. Happy with the set as it is able to do all the stuff required. Sound quality is much much better than what was given to me by the PI (Homa unit). Dont have BT or Wifi though. I am using the original digital TV tuner provided when i got the car. Reception is quite jia lat. Any recommendation for digital or analog tuner? worth to get?
Esmond Neutral Newbie July 30, 2011 Author Share July 30, 2011 its a bad choice. why go and buy a china head unit? get at least something decent such as pioneer, alpine etc I don't think it is a bad choice. Pioneer is low resolution(480x234), same as alpine. You might have not see this unit, much sharper and clearer than these "decent" unit. The processor is also very very faster than my imagine, because I load a 1.2GB rmvb file, it can play smoothly, and can jump to any point without any lag. I have compared with my net book, which is even slower than it. For this point, these decent units lose definitely. As for the sound quality, I think these decent unit should win. But for me, I don't feel any big difference, according to my experience, at least the radio and dvd sound quality made me satisfied. Another unbeatable feature is it's wifi / 3g, although I have iphone, this is not so useful for me, but this point make this road emperor the leading unit based on windows CE, which those decent units definitely can not make it. Over all I am satisfied with it. Last but least thing I should say "decent" means paying high only, these branded company upgrade their products too slow. The screen is out dated at least for 3 years. dont you think so Picanto?
Esmond Neutral Newbie July 30, 2011 Author Share July 30, 2011 you blind or trying to act stupid is it? he install at $470. I think what he mean is the road emperor. buying the DVH2350 at $470 only for a dvd and radio player is not worthy: 1. no bluetooth, hands free call are not available. 2. low screen resolution, even can not find good navigation software, even you want to upgrade a gps module. 3. no gps navigation. 4. wince5 or wince4.2 can not play those mkv and rmvb files. 5. no internet. 6. no TV. Esmond Neutral Newbie July 31, 2011 Author Share July 31, 2011 (edited) oh, so you are the type that wants as many features as possible. in the end, how much you pay for this model? oh, I might be. There is only one double Din space in my vehicle. that's why I wish to make full usage of it. for example, no need to install an extra window suction type GPS, no need to install extra reverse camera monitor, no need to bring an cigarette light iphone charger, this unit make it true. and even bring me other surprises like TV and internet and media player. Now the space is much more expensive that any other things. That's why I finally choose it, and the price is ok for me.
