THE Land Transport Authority has announced the site for the Thomson Line (TSL) depot.

The 32ha depot will be located in Mandai beside a portion of the Seletar Expressway, and will provide stabling and maintenance facilities for TSL trains.

It will be the fifth MRT depot here as well as the largest - it has room for 90 trains compared to the Bishan depot's 37 and the upcoming Tuas West depot's 60. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of 2012.

Fully underground, the proposed TSL will run from Woodlands through the CBD to Marina Bay, and ease congestion on the existing North-South Line (NSL).

The TSL will interchange with the NSL at the existing Woodlands MRT station.

The northernmost TSL station will be located near Republic Polytechnic, and the proposed Rapid Transit System Link between Singapore and Johor Bahru will be integrated with it there. The LTA will announce further details of the TSL at a later date.

Anyone care to guess where the other stations will be?

Where will the Mandai station be located?

What is the chance that it will be at near the T-junction of Mandai Rd, Sembawang Rd and Upper Thomson Rd?

From CNA

Residents living near Republic Polytechnic in Woodlands could see greater interest in their properties.

This is because the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said they plan to build a station there that will integrate the upcoming Thomson Line (TSL) with the proposed Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link.

This station will be the northernmost terminal station of the Thomson Line.

The LTA also announced plans to have an interchange at the existing North-South Line's Woodlands station for commuters to transfer onto the Thomson Line.

The Thomson Line will run fully underground from Woodlands through the Central Business District to Marina Bay. It will pass through the Ang Mo Kio, Sin Ming and Thomson areas before it reaches the city.

Also announced was the location of the Thomson Line Depot, which will be at Mandai.

The planned 32-hectare train depot will be Singapore's largest.

Construction on the depot will begin end 2012, and it will provide stabling and maintenance facilities for up to 90 Thomson Line trains.

The government will be acquiring a 40-hectare piece of land currently occupied by Orchidville, Singapore's largest orchid farm, for the depot.

The farm will receive statutory compensation under the Land Acquisition Act, and will have till end 2012 to vacate the premises.

The Thomson Line, targetted for completion by 2018, is currently undergoing a detailed engineering study.

The LTA said it would release more details on the line at a later date after the study is completed.

all these 23 stations are not needed, the trains just need to ferry the malaysian gamblers

straight to the marina bay sands casino and rws casino and back to malaysia to get more

money, rather than stuck in woodlands custom.

If you are thinking about buying a property or if you go to JB very often, then you want to look for a place along the Thomson Line.

Once the locations are anounce the value sure go up and then it will continue to rise.

Property within walking distance of MRT stations are always in high demand.
