true to some woman. not all.

some woman looking over for beta prospects is just the same for some man looking for 32c-24-32 and face of an angel.

Are you kidding? Ppl here likes to blame everything on the govt. :D

Govt keep telling us we are nationally vulnerable, dark clouds, uncertain future, remember? You relak a bit they say SGeans getting complacent. Then they throw in FTs to make you feel even more vulnerable. But they want you to make babies.

I'm interested to find out why SG men less satisfied with life as compared to US men, article only talk about why SG women less satisfied than US women.

The recent case of the PA stealing from her employer is a good example. She's a mother of two and she uses the money she stole to buy branded bags. Materialism is not newly discovered, it's been around for ages. If materialism stops women from wanting babies the human races would have been extinct long ago.

It is a vicious cycle.

We don't reproduce enough, we employ FT for economic drive, our inflation worsens, we work harder, we reproduce less and cycle repeats.

Need a study paper to know meh?

He should compare reproductive power within economic strata.

Maybe forget it, I will tell you.

Lower income and high income bears the most children. Middle income, where most people fall into, bears the least.

Why this psychology prof spend so much time and resources studying some topic when we already know what's the conclusion?? (That girls here are materialistic... )

He should've come to MCF surf around and got his answer already... [laugh]

SG ladies are not materialistic, just being realistic in today's context.

she works so hard for the bread and expect her to share a portion of the bread with another man?

no matter how, man is still somehow "one level up" than the woman.

if the man cannot provide the bread and you put yourself as a woman, will you accept that man? =p

nonetheless, in this discussion, we must exclude those women who only dream of marrying to rich husbands and waiting for $$$ to drop from the sky.

those are what we called the pests and are wasting our natural resources. =P

low birth rate is nothing got to do with material female.... its the environment, its singapore!

In Singapore, Most married couple are both working, to have a child, 1 person have to sacrified his/her career in terms to spend more time with the kids... and the income will fall on the other party. In terms to enjoy reasonable quality life in SG, a family of 3 needs min 8K income per month in terms to be sustainable (that includes savings for retirement, child education & etc). How many singaporean can fetch an 8K pay per month?? the top 30%?? or lesser??

i totally agree....for example my ex gf was happy initially when i bought an ec, after that she told me that ec are for the masses, ok fine, i bought a condo at east coast, then i decided to sell it to take back my cash, and after that she was very pissed with me and refuse to accept anything cheaper then that, i was forced to buy a more expensive condo beyond my comfortable budget and suddenly my 200k was not enuff for all her needs, and we broke up, I am still very sad

That is why I can't point the blaming finger at our Govt.

When asked to stop at 2 we heed.

When asked to minimum 2 we don't hear.

FTs are the replacements of the population we did not procreate.

My solution is to save the money in campaigning which Govt spends $3.2B/year, which does not bring any results...

and just give the monies to couples with 2 or more children. I estimated each woman can get $2500/mth and this amount should increase to accomodate up to the 4th child.

Women can still choose to work or stay at home.

Stay home mums can opt to attend courses of their choice to stay relevant to the job market when the money payment stops when the last child is 10 yrs old.

For the shortfall of workers, FTs can then be deployed on EP basis.

This way, we follow the European/sweden pro family benefits. Govt may spend > $3.2B/yr say $5.0B, but if TFR improves, you can stay they need only $1.8B to solve the problem, cheap cheap.

More Child care centres can be set-up to cater to the needs of working mothers

I think this will work.

No offence, bro.

but

I don't think it's entirely her fault for being so materialistic.

It is mainly your fault for choosing her as your girlf and letting her partially control your spending.

If this type of girl was my girlf, I'd surely just f & go. [:p]

I like the child care part. Nowadays parents are paying $800 a child for child care and it is after so call government subsidy.... [knife]
