Ebay and Paypal

I was shocked when i finally managed to sell an item in EBay

I sold an item for $35

Ebay charge me about $7.00

Paypal charge me about $2.60

furthermore they charge me for charging shipping

THE CHARGES TO SELL SOMETHING IS SO RIDICULOUS

WHY BOTHER TO HAVE SEPARATE SHIPPING CHARGE WHEN EBAY ALSO TAKES A COMMISSION

I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND WHY PAYPAL CHARGES SO MUCH

THEY ARE HOLDING MY MONEY AND EARNING INTEREST

AND WHEN I WANT TO TAKE THE MONEY OUT

THEY WILL CHARGE ME CONVERSION FROM US TO SING DOLLAR

THEN ANOTHER BANK SURCHARGE

IN THE END THERE IS HARDLY ANYTHING LEFT

is this the normal practice

in short

i already lost money on sell on ebay

furthermore lost money on shipping charges, ebay tells us to be fair with shipping charges i did and kena s c r e w ed

paypal is the worse

dont know what they do and charge so much

Where did you list yr item? If you sell in S$ in ebay spore, the listing is free unless you are using some other selling features. Looks like you have limited experience in selling online , yr first sales ?

Rule of the thumb, if that you think that you are selling item for usd 35.00 = sgd 50.00, you will feel that you had been shortchanged by evilbay & paypay.

I priced my item at a direct 1-1 exchange rate as it is the best formula.

BTW, do you know that the USD withdrawn rate by paypay is about 3% less than what banks/money changer offers? Don't be surpise that when you click the withdrawn, you end up pennyless.

I had stopped selling in eBay international as they made me uncompetitive compared with sellers from USA/UK/Australians. Only local markets but some locals are just too demanding as I have incidents for a mere $10 G/P, need to hand...

Most of the local online buyers still don't appreciated the convenience of buying online and making payments via paypal or iBank. And most sellers will deliver the goods right up to the doorsteps.

This is a 101 $$ question and every online sellers are looking for the answer. No easy way out, you just have to pay to learn. It took me more than 2 years to learn "on the job" and earn the powerseller logo.

When I start getting comfortable, ebay starts revamping the selling landscape again and now I am back to square one trying to unlock the new selling technique.

This is a very common among local buyers which I will not agreed, as it is time consuming. Many instant of buyers fail to tune up or last minute cancelling the appointment.

Lesson #1 don't do meet up if you are serious seller . If you must make sure the buyer make pre-delivery payment before appointment.

Local online buyers are not many and are also not very active in repeat buying. In such marketplace, you have to be the niche product leader to attract buyers and cream the market.

To be a serious online seller, you need to list at least 100 items to get the selling economy of scale. I prefer to have 300 items or more ( no repeat listing)
