READERS of citizen journalism site STOMP reported and shared pictures of floods at blocks in Jurong and Choa Chu Kang late on Wednesday after a heavy downpour.

The National Environment Agency had earlier issued a heavy rain warning about showers between 11.10pm and 12.10am.

At least two HDB blocks in western Singapore were affected.

One STOMP user, FloodLAH, said the multi-purpose hall at Blk 297, Choa Chu Kang Ave 2, was flooded.

'The water was about ankle-deep,' the user said.

Another STOMP user, a resident of Blk 221A in Jurong East Street 21, said the water makes it difficult to locate the drains.

'Metal covers are not installed over the drains near the flooding area and the muddy water makes it difficult to see and locate the drains,' the STOMP user said.

How come the drains are choked?

No one clean meh? Or like the proverb...sweep under the carpet...aka sweep the leaves and debrie into the drain.
