Wallaw819 4th Gear June 6, 2011 Share June 6, 2011 Anyone has repaired dripping ceramic tap before? Thinking of diy but realise it is rather complex for ceramic tap. Or have to change the whole tap? Tks. If there is a piece of rubber below holding the 2 ceramic disc then most of the time it is this piece of rubber that is deform with use/time. Simply cut another thin piece of rubber and tighten the unit back. The tap should feel tighter when you are using. I have repaired mine countless of time this way. Header Clutched June 6, 2011 Author Share June 6, 2011 Tks Wallow819. So i guess just get a rubber mat to cut a new washer will do? Seems like not too difficult.
Sosaria Twincharged June 6, 2011 Share June 6, 2011 Are you talking about those "modern" taps where you flip a handle to start/stop water flow? Sometimes, if the handle is slammed to the stop too often, the ceramic disc inside will crack, hence causing leak. In that case, sometimes the entire "cartridge" unit must be changed. Available at hardware shops. But must know the exact brand/type you're looking for.
Header Clutched June 7, 2011 Author Share June 7, 2011 Yes Sosaria, mine is similar except the handle is swing left and right instead of up/ down. So have to dismantle first to see if the cartridge or rubber is the one that need to replace? So troublesome. No wonder some hardware store asked me to just change the whole tap... Opel17 6th Gear August 14, 2015 Share August 14, 2015 Was browsing through the Mr DIY shop (Level 2, nearby Tesco Bukit Indah checkout lines), and stumbled upon the repair kit for the ceramic tap. RM2.50 for 1 set. Bought 2 sets since 1 tap at home was already dripping slightly. Just sharing, as we couldn't find this item in Singapore yet. *there is another Mr DIY shop at Tesco Tebrau City, Level 1, nearby food court. ↡ Advertisement
