Wishcumstrue 6th Gear June 11, 2011 Share June 11, 2011 There is a reason why they use to be more developed than SG in the 60s, but remain so till now. It's the culture an the societal attitude. Look at their politics, not really able to get the country to get into a better conditions. Dictatorship cannot make it, democratic now but still hanging half way. Pinoy politics? What politics? I though they are all singers, actors and actress? The only real economy that Pinoy can create is to go overseas looking for jobs in the millions. If these oversea Pinoys cannot take care of their elderly and young ones back home, how is it they are capable and reliable as workers in other country? Any Pinoy forum-er here? I like to hear their view. ↡ Advertisement
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear June 11, 2011 Share June 11, 2011 http://forums.asiaone.com/showthread.php?t=39927 To MOM I wrote before about my situation whereby I was hired to replace a pinoy. The pinoy originally declined the job offer but later regretted his decision and was not happy about me been the replacement. He was eventually sent back to Philipines a few months later but his gang of friends (pinoys also) soon began to employ tricks to make me leave the company so that he can make a comeback. The tricks involved not teaching the skills/info needed to do my job, hostile stares and badmouthing. The badmouthing went something like this. The pinoys would observe all your movements and behaviors. Slightest mistake you made and they would exaggerate it and spread to others. I was sick during one period and took medication which made me drowsy and the pinoys would complained that I kept yawning non-stop during office hours/training/meeting and was not interested in my work. I overheard this when I entered a meeting through the rear door. I was attacked by more than one pinoy but whether it was coordinated or not, I
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear June 11, 2011 Share June 11, 2011 I roughly remembered in 2009 that there was an uproar here when the then-President Gloria Arroyo was quoted as saying she had secured 5,000 positions at the casino-resort, for Filipinos. see link below: http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/busines...-to-foreigners/ I am not too sure if we have really employed 5000 Filipinos at the casino today. But I could sense the stronger presence of Filipinos in my workplace today. It seems that we have cut down on PRCs but ramped up on the number of Filipinos. Isn't that coming back to square one? I do find certain nationality more prone to malingering than others, and you just name it for me.
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear June 11, 2011 Share June 11, 2011 we dont have the right to judge is he a loser infront of all of us, what will you do if you will in his shoes? either kpkb , play politics with them like the writter or quit the job as and let them rule the land? i will be honest enough to quit the job , cos this is too much to endanger my life by putting medicine or drugs during work. i will prefer live on another job. You got the point. You are right. If his Employer wants to lower productivity. Just go to another who wants better productivity. The only problem is, are you the higher productivity sort, or just another malinger?

Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear June 11, 2011 Share June 11, 2011 You quit, they win, so its not helping anything at all, & all future Singaporeans that worked there will get the same treatment again. Just saying. Unless you bombard the whole company what what happen to you in an email, detail the tricks they are up to, before you leave. I would have a chat with the HR/Personel Department (sometimes a feedback works wonders). Example: I once feedback to HR about an Engineers creating problems to make himself looks indispensable. The Engineer was told to leave after the HR carried an investigation.
Badder Neutral Newbie June 11, 2011 Share June 11, 2011 (edited) Our PM said they FT, so they think locals retarded? Only if they read some of the posts in this thread. Lol The stench of racism is overpowering and getting stronger. This can only spell trouble for Singapore. Race riots almost killed us before - beware of that road Fact is things have changed worldwide this is now a global economy with mobile workforce we have to compete with people from all nations. We have to rise to that challenge.if we are too weak or lazy then we have only ourselves to blame Edited June 11, 2011 by Badder

Just saying. Unless you bombard the whole company what what happen to you in an email, detail the tricks they are up to, before you leave. we put ourselves into this poor guy enviroment, if we stay and keep fighting.....the chances of living out of the company will be at stake cos endanger our life by playing something dirty tricks all the time. what the point of wining these pinoy, we are basically just working for money , that all.....for what i wish for is just work to the timing, get the money , bring back to home and enjoy with our family (parents , kids / babies) but most important is if you quit , you must be confidence that you are good and worth for the next job. this is getting very common in the private sector, i did withness before 2 mid-age chinese malaysian bullying a old man singaporean. they kind of thinking is "we are getting the same pay , why he do so slow and we do so fast." We have to rise to that challenge.if we are too weak or lazy then we have only ourselves to blame I do not see any statement here as racist. On the contrary, some folks themselves are sharing personnel encounter of the bigotry displayed by some Foreign workers here in Singapore. As many had witnessed, these sort of unprofessional behavior is actually detrimental to Singapore's long term social stability, not just economy growth and development. Singaporeans are pretty tolerant folks. But when such behavior continue to be practices by Foreigners and using "globalisation" as an excuse, then we cannot blame locals for looking at these Foreign colleges in suspicious and darker light. The recent GE has clearly shown the swelling ground of intense dissatisfaction. Take note.

Jchuacl Clutched June 12, 2011 Share June 12, 2011 It depends. Generally I find that managing people from other countries takes more effort and you'll need to make tremondous efforts to understand and mingle with them. Once you have their respect, it'll be easier to manage the team, otherwise it'll be hell for the team leader/manager. Patience is key and from personal experience(20-30 pple) , it'll take at least 6 months before you have control of the team. Branteo Clutched June 12, 2011 Share June 12, 2011 If one is in a position to be bullied - be it due to his/her position, personality, etc, ... he/she will be bullied. This is regardless of the race, nationality, religion, etc of the aggressors. Life is such. ↡ Advertisement
