Getting to know Tan Cheng Bock

As I was pretty ignorant of politics in my younger days.. welcome any "lau jiao" forumers to share their views on him.. for us to make an informed vote this time [cool]

If there is only one reason to support him, it has to be that he spoke against the foreign talent policies many years ago. He even got a dressing down from LKY for speaking his mind.

 

Fast forward many years later, we are now flooded with FT, with certain towns fast becoming an enclave of certain nationalities. Our wages are depressed, and many PMET had their livelihood threatened, so much so nobody feel secure anymore.

 

To add insult to injury, there is absolutely no conclusive proof that the huge influx of FT resulted in bettter employment for true blue Singaporeans.

 

If only they had listened to Dr Tan then. To me Dr Tan is the original patriot.

My observation as follow

 

AFTER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS OF FT coming in like no body business

 

1) They depress the local PMET salary...coz they are cheaper by 20%-40%...hence corporate financial target can be achieve years after years thru replacing local PMET with FT. No brainer kind of strategy for top management to achieve KPI

 

2) Corporate HR can easily get FT w/o the need to consider local 1st unlike Work Permit whereby there are certain criteria to fulfill....

 

3) most of FT not necessary better than local ........but they are more ""
