Sosaria Twincharged June 2, 2011 Share June 2, 2011 (edited) I suggested it earlier in the thread, and after reading this it seems more likely - it sounds like she is going to start her own buisness consultancy. I also suspect that part of the reason for the resignation is the mismatch in status between her role as a junior exec and as an MP which should equate to senior manager at the lowest. Sylvia - for a laywer and lecturer to keep options open is understandable - she can quite genuinely consult in her area of expertise. Does TPL have that level of experience to become a genuine consultant? You are right. But this seems to be a trend even at big consulting companies... recruiting business school graduates directly. Without any substantial and varied working experience (for fresh grads... absolutely zero), how can they ever provide any meaningful advice to their clients?? And yet this is happening. I have never worked for a big four, nor as a business consultant. My experience is based on the PR industry. Here, a "senior associate" (one level above new grad at entry) is not really expected to be a "consultant" - although that may be part of their job description. Its more a ccase of tapping on the experience of seniors, following instructions, compiling info for reports, applying existing models. I rather suspect that this is what TPL is doing and the phrase "business consultant" is actually being very generous. I would quite seriously doubt that she is doing any genuine consulting. It is the same in big 4. Consultant & Senior Consultant are for nitty gritty work.

Darryn Turbocharged June 2, 2011 Share June 2, 2011 hmm.. it might then be a case of who you know Correct or not, that will certainly be the perception. And as an MP there are all sorts of expertise that can be sold - it is instant credibility, and instant ability to get notice and support. Please do note - I am commenting here on what others will think - and am specifically steering clear of whether TPL will deliberately trade on this - I don't know enough about her to say anything on that front.
