Who knows when she submit letter or what arrangement she has made with boss....anything here in this regard is only idle speculation

well, we would know for sure... she had not submitted by polling day... and that is less than 1 month ago.

The whole of MCF is all about speculation... [rolleyes] that's what online forums are all about - speculation.

so only other MPs are allowed to complain about MPs? Ordinary citizens have no right to complain about MPs they think are no good?

Wrong again.

TPL scheme her way there while Donut still complaining. [laugh]

Another curious thought... she tender resignation can immediately leave the company? Usually should have 1 month or more notice period right? Especially executive positions need to handover properly...

she said yesterday was her last day. she didn't say she resigned yesterday. do u know the difference???

having an MP appeal to a stat board is a conflict of interest.

I remember some time back, an NZ MP got into a lot of trouble beause he wrote a character reference for a member of his family to apply for (NZ) citizenship, and this was done on MP Letterhead - he got into trouble for abusing the power of his office, which I thought was fully appropriate.

The problem with having interests represented by an assocciation is that they don't have any rights in parliament, which is the only forum that ultimately matters.

agree. that's why i really don't see the point in having such a system.

well i tend to disagree with the latter point. why msut a right be only capabale of being put forward by member of parliament and not a minister?

if the Association has been assigned a minister to be attended to, this minister shall represent them to raise up hte point in parliament.

didnt the recent spate of activities to address unahppiness of citizens like ministerial salary review, changing HDB income ceiling etc came about because PM Lee heard the voices of Singaporeans? It was not because he heard the complaints of only amk constituents which he supposedly represents as MP. so how can we say people have to be heard and represented by their MP and not their Minister?

feedback and representation need not come in one single mode.

This is politics. I am inclined to think that her move may not be altruistic.

Maybe she is pregnant and does not want the unnecessary work stress - so she quitted the lower paying job.

Maybe next week they announce her "election issue" is an outright acquittal and this move will mitigate the fallout.

They have calculated Singaporeans have short term memory and forgiving and "easy to pull wool over".

Only time will tell.

I hope I am wrong about all my points above.

That's because the system is backwards.

This should be the majority of what MPs do, help to appeal etc should just be out of "kindness of heart" becuase at the end of the day having an MP appeal to a stat board is a conflict of interest.

that's what the government wants to believe... your MP has the power to change things in you favor... vote for them

she said yesterday was her last day. she didn't say she resigned yesterday. do u know the difference???

I never said she resigned yesterday. I said she has resigned with less than 1 month notice.

Do YOU know the difference?? You have a problem with selective reading again?

She has listed that she was employed at the time of elections. That was less than 1 MONTH ago. If she had ALREADY tendered her resignation before the elections and yet listed employed... then, that would have been lying to the public, would it not? And also lying to the elections board.. which is a criminal offence.

Case in point... MP Sim Ann had listed herself as unemployed, even though she has tendered with less than 1 month notice from her civil service job. The civil service had to come out and clarify that she was given special clearance... otherwise she could have been disqualified from standing for elections.. that's how serious these kind of statements are.

So now.. with our favourite girl TinTin, the situation is in reverse. She claims she was employed, but by usual case, upon normal resignation, most companies would have at least a 1 month notice period. But she said her last day was yesterday - which is less than one month from the polling date, at which time she had not tendered yet. SO, in order to convince the public, someone who KNOWS should clarify if she had special permission for short notice like Sim Ann. Otherwise, cannot blame the public for speculating all kinds of insinuations.
