Hi

Just like to share another point to take note about aviva policy. If you wanted to cancel their policy prematurely, their refund policy is as follows:

If the effective date of cancellation is on the:

(i) 14th day;

I've bought a 21-year insurance from agent to have him disappear the following year.

And nobody from that company was tasked to take over.

Yeap, I just keep paying premium for the next 21 year and am glad it's over.

As far as insurance is concerned, they are just out there to make your money.

Don't think too much about them "serving" you.

You'll be disappointed when you need them.

well.. u just haven't met the right one..

when i needed advice (my kid kenna urinary tact infection), called him late at night, he answered and advised how to make the claim after the hospital stay was arranged.

and i did not buy millions of coverage from him..

I am under Aviva insurance and when I bought my car insurance online last year, I filled up 11th Nov as the expiry date of my insurance, as per what I've been filling up for the past 6 years. As my road tax was also on the 11th May / 11th Nov, I tried to renew online at LTA's website but could not. I called up LTA and was told that it was because my car's insurance coverage was insufficient. This is the first time I've met this problem in my 6 years driving this car. I then called Aviva and asked them what is the problem. The lady on the line mentioned that I should have put 12th as the expiry, and not the 11th?? She also said that she has helped other drivers about this matter before, i.e. to change the date to 12th, instead of 11th.

It's weird, I just checked my previous years' car insurance certificate and all indicated 11th Nov as the expiry, not 12th. Seems like this problem is only unique to Aviva... Does anyone of you have the same problem?

In the end did you resolve your problem?

Maybe the problem lies with Lta too. You may also need to clarify is to cover to exact date or plus 1 more day as LTA is the one that get back insufficient insurance coverage . so it should be across whole board. Cannot be Lta accept other insurance company the exact the same date but not aviva. So seek Lta on more clarity on the insurance date side too.

I did ask LTA first, before I contacted Aviva, as LTA's officer repeatedly asked me to check with my insurer. And lucky the officer even helped me to check who is my insurer because I cannot even remember LOL... Anyway, as mentioned, it's weird because for the past 6 years, I filled up 11th Nov, and then even the Aviva girl said that she has been changing the dates for other drivers as well. But when I tried to repeatedly asked why Aviva is different because when I used other insurers, I never had problems with 11th Nov. She repeatedly Taiji away this same question, as many times as I asked... [thumbsdown] I then decided it's not worth to waste anymore time thus just dropped the topic myself.

Oh yah, it has been solved after that girl changed the date of my car insurance to the... 12th?? hmmmmmmmmmmmm

You must ask back lta again as Lta is the one that get back to you that you have insufficient insurance coverage where in fact you have. Explain your situation through email and cc to aviva too to seek clarity. I mean maybe there is some changes in policy that we all also do not know not just insurance sometimes it involved other party like LTA. Maybe it is LTA that make the changes that now need to be insured for extra 1 more day? Think it's good to know too although it is just extra one day.

Or can clarify with aviva is there any policy changes recently that now must insure one extra day by Lta side,? They will be able to know as Lta surely sent out message to all insurance company if there is any changes that need to comply with on insurance side.

This happens sometimes because a year of cover is always counted as the policy expiring one day before the start date from the previous year, ie 12 June 2014 to 11 June 2015.

Upon renewal, drivers should take note when updating their road tax that their road tax expiry is one day after the insurance renewal to be safe. Having that extra day as a buffer helps to avoid tricky situations where it is unclear what went wrong and which organisation's system caused the date to be shifted by one day.
