Skyalps Neutral Newbie June 14, 2011 Share June 14, 2011 latest reply from Aviva. Think it must have been vetted and cleared by their lawyers so that they can use it as a standard reply. Kindly note that Aviva will not allow modification to suspension. We will void the insurance policy if the vehicle's suspension is been modified. Stanchiam 1st Gear June 14, 2011 Share June 14, 2011 (edited) latest reply from Aviva. Think it must have been vetted and cleared by their lawyers so that they can use it as a standard reply. Kindly note that Aviva will not allow modification to suspension. We will void the insurance policy if the vehicle's suspension is been modified. • Aviva's definition of modification refers to changes to your car which are directly related to how it works as a car. This includes changes to engine performance, drive train, air intake systems, exhaust systems, transmission systems, or any changes to the handling characteristics of the car including suspension systems, strut towerbars, or bracing. In addition, changes to wheels, rims or tyres that are not within the manufacturers’ defined and acceptable specifications are not allowed under the terms of Aviva’s car insurance policies. This definition does not include routine maintenance where like for like compatible non manufacturer parts are used. 1. Change to sports rims and tires (will be covered with terms and conditions apply) 2. Change of suspension (NOT ACCEPTABLE) 3. Change of air filter (NOT ACCEPTABLE) 4. Change of gear knob (will be covered with terms and conditions apply) install spring stifferner consider void? (or any changes to the handling characteristics of the car including suspension systems) my case very jialat, nearly everything is void "Change of air filter (NOT ACCEPTABLE) " this is crazy!! Silver_blade Turbocharged June 14, 2011 Share June 14, 2011 I feel the problem with Aviva is what they see as modification but rather what exactly are the modification that they do not accept. If it has been stated very clearly, then I feel it is fair & transparent. It up to the consumers to decide if it is a good deal or on they will avoid. Cruise 1st Gear June 14, 2011 Share June 14, 2011 I am still seeking further clarification from Aviva re. sports rims, etc. better to get all these down in B&W to cover myself... I spoke to DA customer svc staff and they said DA will cover the original parts which is what Aviva is saying now. Change of tack? More forummers should write/call Aviva to clarify and put more pressure on them... Since they don't respect drivers at all, as if the cars that we bought are really a rent for 10 years by "Aviva car rental pte ltd" As if you rent a car, you will not mod it in anyway, not even a carpet nor wiper. Singapore will become a dull and dead city eventually. All the car workshop will close shop except Aviva's authorised ones. I want to own my car, not rent at, at least for 10 years! STOP pressuring them ,just switch to DirectAsia. Since they don' respect us, don't force them to take our business.
Cruise 1st Gear June 14, 2011 Share June 14, 2011 Yes, add mods must be declared. Also clarified the condition phrase, i am getting them to send me in writing. In short, they can only replace parts as per original specs. For example, your bigger rim got damaged but they said they will cover the std spec say 18 inch. If say mine is 20 inch and only one piece is damaged, they will decide on a case by case basis. Think they will replace one with bigger rim size to save cost and time having to replace all 4 to 18 inch. If all 4 are damaged, they will replace all 4 with std 18 inch, not all 4 with a bigger rim you have upgraded. They don't have to decide case by case. If you damage one rim, you pay excess $500 for claiming them. Then they give you a 18 inch factory rims. How you going to sell it or use it or trade in, its up to you. But if you use it, your policy will be void cause you are not driving your car according to the manufacturer's recommendation, hence you will get back your full premium and so on and so on..... Stanchiam 1st Gear June 14, 2011 Share June 14, 2011 Got reply from alibaba, will be jumping ship. Dear Mr Chiam, Thank you for your below email enquires. It is not Aviva's practice to insure modified vehicles; even those vehicles with approved LTA modifications. As you have undertaken the following modifications to your vehicle (except for item 2, 4 & 5) ; 1. voltage stabliser 2. solar film (this is not the cause to void the policy) 3. enhanced spark plug cable 4. installation of removable GPS (this is not the cause to void the policy) 5. installation of removable In-Car video recorder (this is not the cause to void the policy) 6. brake enhancer 7. open pod (cold air intake system and enhancement) 8. decorative exhaust tip (for decorative purpose, cost $10) 9. oil catch tank These are deemed by us as unacceptable. If you can return to us the COI for the insured car we will cancel your policy and provide you with a pro rata refund. Please note if you retain the COI and continue to presume your car is fully insured these facts may result in Aviva not dealing fully with your claim at that time. Please complete and email the attached cancellation and declaration forms to [email protected].

Will be a big hassle if really have to file claims. Will confirm after i get my clarifications from DA...

Mona-vie 1st Gear June 16, 2011 Share June 16, 2011 Heng, luckily I only insure with AXA. So far never claim at all but I will never touch Aviva, not even if they are cheaper. Free I also don't want.
