Pisces69 6th Gear May 29, 2011 Share May 29, 2011 (edited) ever check engine light lighted , my car pickup power was really bad. I removed all spark plugs and inspect individually. one of the plugs was faulty(the ground electrode actually bend towards the centre electrode )I change to a new set of spark plugs, engine light still lighted though. after driving for about 30km and park the car,the check engine light went off the next time I start the car. How come the electrode can bend? Something must hv hit it? Is the plug the correct type? Edited May 29, 2011 by Pisces69
Aveo6 Neutral Newbie May 29, 2011 Share May 29, 2011 If the engine checked light is due to O2 sensor, is it safe to drive on the road? I took over this car few month ago, the light keep coming back... Any advice?

I took over this car few month ago, the light keep coming back... Any advice? depends..typically, most modern jap cars came with two 02 sensors, more for conti...if it is second 02 sensor at the cat, then you are safe. if it is the first o2 sensor, then your fc is going to be bad, sluggish performance and misfiring. can you live with that? if no, get the sensor swapped or replace

Kusje Supersonic May 29, 2011 Author Share May 29, 2011 so, whats the outcome? Sorry for the slow update. CNC did a check and the diagnostics said that the Throttle Body sensor wasn't working properly. They cleaned it or something and reset the code - check engine light went off and car isn't sluggish anymore. I am to monitor the situation and go back if it happens again. Total cost: $64.20. The throttle body of lancer ex 1.5 needs to be cleaned every 50K. Else check engine light will show and engine can only go up to 2K rpm only. I also driving ex 1.5, encountered twice liao. After cleaning throttle body and reset ecu ok le.
Pisces69 6th Gear May 30, 2011 Share May 30, 2011 Maybe too much Acetone in the petrol.! Seems very strange the metal electrode can bend. Something must hit it to make it bend.
