Hi there,

Just want to share some info with you. The air purifier would only be able to work at its best if the room is closed. If you open the windows the air purifier efficiency would drop significantly. If you really want a good air purifier I would suggest honeywell. The filter size is large to give you maximum filtration and the filters are easy to maintain. It's used extensively in hospitals and they are well know in production of air purifiers. Other brand like sharp may look good but the filter size is no where near those in honeywell.

Hope this little info helps you.

As what I know, there are 2 different types of HEPA filter found in the air purifier in the market.Usually those <$300 use HEPA filter (99.95%).The more expensive one use True HEPA filter (99.97%) which is the type found in new born baby room, ICU,burn unit....etc at hospital. As I know, true HEPA can filter and "trap" virus and gems more effectively. As other filteraion function like carbonize filter (remove bad smell),platsmaculster (Active Ions) to kills virus,gems....etc in the air, negative ions, ultra long ray UV lights......etc is other unique features of different brands air purifier. That really boils down to what is your most important needs.

Digging up this thread as i am looking ard for one purifier for my baby room.

Did some comparisons at best denki earlier on.

Comparing between panasonic and novita, which brand will you go for, assuming both at the same price but the novita has more layers of filter?

Also, i am puzzled why purifiers will work better in a closed room? I have intennded to deploy it in a room wherer the windows are always slighlty ajar. Will it work?

Novita is more proven and specialized in air purifying.

of course close room work better. If you have a window open, then whatever purified will be dirty again right since bad air will keep flowing in and clean air will always escape out.

Thanks

So does it mean it does not make sense to deploy the unit near windows or door?

take note. a no of cheap ones produce ions which long term effects not proven n some research shows they can cause cells to mutate n cause cancer. i would get non ion ones.

I only trust honeywell, extremely reliable and effective, a little noisy but you get used to it.

But expensive, cost me close to 800 when new.

I bought Honeywell HA170 from mjhub. Costs slightly less than $500. Although it's not the quietest one in the market, it seems to work well. My children have sensitive nose, and they seemed to be sleeping better now. The purifier is especially useful during those hazy days

Hopefully novita ones are not one of those

You may want to consider the airflow rate, the efficiency and also how much can the filter hold.

I can't cool effectively my 5 room flat hall with a small fan, similarly it is the same for Air Purifier, it is only effective if the air in the room can be sucked in and purified, so you may want the salesperson to know your requirements and let them recommend what is most suitable for your needs.

As for filters, do not expect those thin slim units can hold unlimited dusts and last longer than some of those bigger, bulkier units.
