Ordix 2nd Gear May 22, 2011 Share May 22, 2011 Hi bros, I renewed my car insurance last yr Oct 30%NCD. Getting my new ride next week or so... Although I can transfer my 30% to my new ride, I can only get 40% NCD next yr May? So technically I will lose my 7mths of prorate 30%NCD? Any work around? I read on a thread that I should buy new ride insurance 0 NCD and continue service my old 30% NCD insurance. Then once my old insurance get 40%NCD, new insurance will refund the excess amount and warrant me with 40% NCD... Any old birds here can advice? SE told me even I drive 11mths 29days also will forfeit my prorate NCD.... My current insurance is almost 50% of my new ride insurance amount......... so... I dun mind continue to service the amount if I can get refund back later n get my 40% NCD in Oct... ↡ Advertisement

Kingkong 5th Gear May 22, 2011 Share May 22, 2011 (edited) If your new car insurance co is AIG, maybe got chance. What happen to me was I sold off old car about 7 months into the coverage, for a new car. New car NCD was same as old car, @ 20%. Then when renewal for new car, AIG auto offered 40%. So catch is, stay with AIG for at least 2 years. Anyway, that's my experience. Don't know if it'll work for others or not. I do not have to do anything? It was offered to me when I called up to confirm my new NCD just before renewal. I quick 'chop' the offer by renewing with them immediately, so as to clock it in permanently. I believe if I changed insurance co, I'll be at their mercy whether to offer the extra 10% or not. As mentioned earlier, I don't know if this will apply to your case or not. Anyway, I'm also an offence-free driver, and 40 yo then. So I guess they feel I'm 'safe' enough to be offered this slight incentive lar. Again, don't tell them I say one hor...
