wow.. that's way to ex... really kill pple set fire price [knife]

 

years ago that i last tried was around $4 with wing, otah & veg already felt it was overpriced as the portion was rather small... now [dizzy]

Asked them cut my chicken wing they say no time. [mad]

 

If pay already then LL... If not then just walk off lor...

 

This type of shop when get bigger, they bully customer, Chinese call 店大欺客！

Not really leh, rendang use msg cook is LppL, use powdered spices, LppL, really expensive ones,

Mortor&pastle pounded rampa, natural coconut milk, boiled for at least 4hrs, over charcoal fire. :D

 

Next time I cook, you come try some lor. :D

Ikan Bilis/Cucumber/Chilli - $1

Rice - $0.30

Here's the breakdown:

 

Chicken Drumstick - $3

2 x Fish - $2

Egg - $1

Luncheon Meat - $1

Ikan Bilis/Cucumber/Chilli - $1

Rice - $0.30

 

Total: $8.30

 

 

$0.30 for rice is too low.... At least $0.80 to $1 for rice...

 

Next time ask for minimum and Ta bao KFC drumstick [laugh]

I haven't gone there for 2 years... food is ok.. didn't know they have increased the price so much.. i def would not buy at this price.. but people actually still queue up to buy [speechless]

This plate of nasi lemak had a drumstick, two kuning fish, an egg, some peanuts and anchovies. Its price: S$8.30.

 

The local fare was served at a nasi lemak stall along Upper Serangoon Road with a long queue of hungry customers at 10:30 pm.

 

While the food was delicious, does it warrant a price tag of S$8.30? A plate of nasi lemak usually costs between S$3 to S$6, depending on the dishes picked.

 

Many Yahoo! Singapore readers debated on Facebook on whether the price was reasonable.

 

Some justified that this is a sign of Singapore's rising inflation.

 

Teo Buay Hiang said, "Inflation!!! Rental and cost of food and oil are rocket high therefore high price. Hope our new Minister for MND will help to bring rental down and AVA which is under his wing too, to bring the cost of food down."

 

"Inflation aside, some of these hawkers have been over-hyped and glorified to the extend that they can slap obscene prices on the customers. Blame it on the ever-popular food blogs," commented Holly Zhang.

 

Felix Yeo likened the nasi lemak stall to a podcast about a bah chor mee stall by popular blogger mrbrown. "The hawker is trying to set the benchmark. This price increase must be pegged to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP)," Yeo said.

 

Another user Amos Poh put things into perspective and said, "Wah.. 30cts more than a heart bypass."

 

However, some users reasoned that the quality of the nasi lemak justifies its price.

 

Cindy Peck said "it's this kinda price at Ponggol Nasi Lemak. It's very expensive but it's very yummy!"

not happy with the price then dont buy la. Not as if its an essential service. Dont understand what the wayang is about.

Not a fan of Punggol nasi lemak. Not a fan of the Adam Road #2 nasi lemak too.

 

Prefer Chong Pang nasi lemak; only chicken wing and curry kentang.

 

Qi Ji nasi lemak tastes much better than the above 2. ^_^

 

There is a new stall along upper thomson, near the Hans stretch. Nasi Lemak Kukus, nice concept, nice crew. From 6pm to 6am iirc.

sometime i feel that muslim nasi lemak or indians mix rice are more expensive compare to chinese stalls.

Agreed. doesn't make sense at all. dunno why nasi padang cost so much. I sometimes had nasi briyani w/ few pcs of mutton, cucumber already cost $4.50 to $5 at hawker centre
