Jlyb86 Neutral Newbie May 19, 2011 Share May 19, 2011 (edited) As above, just needed as much inputs as possible :) Just friendly discussion on what you heard or know about this 2 models Thank you, do kindly stick to this 2 cars as have narrowed down, in cars every $50 increment in installment can get a different model. Kia rio i believe the FC is better and space wise would win getz though getz has good spacing in the budget hatchback group. getz looks slightly better but heard scary stuff about the FC. Price wise almost similiar, hence a bit undecided. Cheers Edited May 19, 2011 by Jlyb86 ↡ Advertisement

Kb27 Supersonic May 20, 2011 Share May 20, 2011 I have limited exposure to both cars, but imho, I feel that generally Getz is a more reliable car. As for FC, I don't think they are too far off. I myself have a Getz 1.6m. At its best, it was doing average 13km/L, but now with age, it has deteriorated to 12km/L. For Getz auto, you may be looking at 10~11km/L, although some claim to get 13km/L. I think it mostly depends on how you drive.
Toyo 1st Gear May 20, 2011 Share May 20, 2011 Given a choice btw these 2 models, i will choose Rio because it has a bigger cabin and boot space specs wise both are very similar so not much to compare

Cheers IMO, sedan wins hatchback, Hyundai wins KIA, so I give 3rd option in term of performance and price same category: Accent1.5A or Vern 1.4A
Jlyb86 Neutral Newbie May 20, 2011 Author Share May 20, 2011 kia rio sedan :) thank you all for the inputs. appreciate it, yeah FC really depend too much on driver pattern.. if every pick up rev like mad even subaru R2 also 10km/L
Jolie888 Clutched May 20, 2011 Share May 20, 2011 If you compare 1.4L engine (apples-to-apples) alike, between the Rio and Getz, they are from the same parent company and both use the same Sigma engine. Of course Hyundai used to bring in the 1.6L version of the Getz, but that's a different matter altogether. The last 2010 Rio model has got leather steering wheel (Getz is plastic), steel shaft for the auto gear stick (Getz is plastic) and steel door lever (Getz is plastic). Nzy Twincharged May 20, 2011 Share May 20, 2011 Currently driving a verna which i guess is very similar to the kia rio. FC not bad. If I don't go and rev above 3k rpm normally my average FC is 13-14km/l. Sat in a Getz before and I feel that verna is more spacious. As for reliability I think should be ok. Mine has no problems other than wear and tear.
Insider Neutral Newbie May 27, 2011 Share May 27, 2011 Well, i am driving Kia Rio 1.4A hatchback. The cabin space is surely win Getz. Why i know this because my colleague own a Getz. FC around 14KM/Ltr with 16 inc rim. The smaller the wheel more mileage it will take. One very disadvantage is ..."VERY HARD TO GET ACCESSORIES". I mean car accessories not spare part. Spare part is compatible with Hyundai. Why i know? Because when i sent for servicing, instead they use Kia parts, they also use Hyundai part in exchange. Accessories e.i. mug flab, window visor and etc
Leryl Neutral Newbie June 13, 2011 Share June 13, 2011 I may need some guidance or help here. As I've just bought a 2nd hand 1.6M 3dr Getz here, and I just bring it for servicing. To my horror, I will need to change quite a number of things. Which includes the spark plug, brake pad, tyre all 4 (as in totally wear out), alignment which needs to be computerize ones as it's too bad till manually cant get it fix. have anyone got any cheap and reliable recommendation around in spore?as I've a very tight budget this month and all these issues are kinda of dangerous to have my getz running on road. I came across forum mentioning Gary/ Ah kang @ lavender Esso. But do anyone have their contacts so I can ask them for quotes? Thanks.

You mentioned brake pad and tyre. This two is hell important stuff. Your tyre should be cheap for getz. Provided it is stock tyre. Spark plug very cheap, but can wait. brake pad and tyre cannot wait. Will langga. What is the mileage of this car?

Passion 5th Gear June 13, 2011 Share June 13, 2011 oh..ok. Better change your brake pad and tyre. This are stuffs that save your life. Brake pad decent only cost $60 to $70 dollars plus changing perhaps another $15 to $20 dollars. Tyre decent one can set you aside $400 for 4. Spark plug you save money first, spark plug normal one around $15 can change 4.

Usually if you buy a 2nd hand car more than 4 yr old, you have to change many things due to wear & tear. But when you buy the car that time, you can check the tyre condition. But sometimes i would advise even the tyre condition looks ok, you should change and do a wheel alignment for safety reason.
