He would have been paid more than $7,000 in the mid-late 90s. Thanks to the FT.

Your application say your application lah...

Its not easy to get Manager position if you are not a Manager in your present job as you are expected to lead a team of people.

What's the current pay? Employers also look at how much the candidate is earning now to have a gauge of how much to pay.

Your information is not detail enough for us to comment/justify his salary.

-Does he has a basic degree from NUS or full time degree from oversea in the 1st place? i know a few never even manage to get their basic deg, however with experience they jump from diploma to postgrad diploma.

-Does his 12 years of experience relevent to the post that he is applying? Besides that, 12 years of non managerial experience vs 1 yr of having managerial experience is not the same. you got to specify how relevent his experience wrt the post he is looking for.

E.g. I got 12 years of martial art experience as an instructor (with BSc) doesn't mean I can get in or command high salary for the position as a training manager in a factory.

MNC or SME? Difference can be alot between the 2. You can put $5~5.5k to test water. If you are worthly and they are within their budget, they will offer you higher. Did you get shortlisted for interview before or just can't come to an agreement on the pay? If it's the first point you are missing out the key words in your resume.
