Thank you Colin for the advice. Much appreciated for your support. I will try my best to use all the advice here. God bless

This is the first time you are buying a car, especially a used car, it is very very important that you get one or two experience driver friends to go with you when going to dealers. The used car world is a lot more complicated than that of new car, it is very easy for an inexperience car buyer to fall prey to unscrupulous dealers.  Not that all the used car dealers are bad but there are enough bad ones out there to prey on innocent and inexperience buyers, and you cant tell who is who. As much as possible, try to buy from a reputable used car dealer.

Don't get into pressure sales tactics, every dealer will tell you his deal is the best deal, dont worry about missing a good deal. The more  dealers you see, the more you talk , the more experience you will gain along the way.

Actually we can help you better if you can share your budget with us. Details such as how much down payment you willing to plonk and how much you can fork out comfortably. With that we can work backward to see what are the options available in the new and used car market.

I would think you will do well to get the cheapest new car and learn the maintenance aspect with it. Not everyone can deal with used COE car with zero experience, even some laojiao also might be perplexed and overwhelmed by the issues if complicated especially old conti cars. Better stick to jap and korean cars for now. If you do not have much financial burden like before, as a teacher for so many years, you should be able to afford a nice budget car at least. Try to get something more reliable then you can enjoy your dream and not let it become a nightmare.

Sgcarmart is good resource to check the car prices, be it new or used car. For used car, you can enter the depreciation amount, year of registration, type of car like sedan, hatch, MPV, etc to do shortlisting. Enjoy the process.

Totally agree. For new buyer

- Go AD route will have less headache and no worries of non-delivery

- New car will seldom have any tech issues in the 1st year, and there is comprehensive factory backed warranty to resolve
