Leisure drive-up [Jun'2011] Sim Koa Yen Durian Farm & Melaka

Hey Fellas!! Good to be back in Singapore after a great trip up north! Was rather exhausting, especially the first day, and this fact compounded by the heat in my car due to broken air-con! Have always loved the culture/heritage scence of Melaka, but the number of tourists this time round kinda spoilt it's charm for me. Plus the "no smoking" ruling applying to an entire area is just silly!

Still, Melaka has got a sentience of it's own, untouched & incorruptible by the hoardes. And this was what I enjoyed! Thanks to Opel & Phmaksg for keepin' it real and making the trip as enjoyable as it was. Hope to travel again with you soon!

As we cleared through the last Toll Plaza, I saw most cars around mine being waved aside by TP. My brother whispered: caught speeding? I hope none of us got involved.

TP on a Sunday afternoon surprised me. Always thought they operate in the weekday mornings then malinger in the afternoons.

Oh man! Luckily they probably sleeping in the morning! As I didn't join you guys for the durian trip, made my way back to JB from Melaka at around 9:30am. Reached JB a little around 10:45am. So you guess my average speed!

Thanks for the photos well taken.

- the overall view of Melaka was taken from the Menara Taming Sari Revolving Tower right ?

- good cam and placement of shots, just like a marksman :D

During the drive on 25/6/2011, from Machap R&R halfway to Pagoh R&R, the weather turned very bad, dark sky, heavy rains and strong crosswinds, like out of the movie "Twister". I felt that my Panorama is being "buffetted" by the crosswinds, and had to slow down from 110kmh to 90kmh. Anyone else sense the crosswinds ?

I really marvel at you guys willingness to stick with me during the convoy on 25/6/2011 at NSH driving at 110~120kmh. Must be really tough on you guys. [rolleyes]

Nah not really! Also, on that day how to go fast?! Like you mentioned, the wheather didn't exactly conspire to be conducive to fast driving! <_<

Actually, it was worse on the way back from the durian farm - raining cats and dogs in some stretches. That's when I had to slow down to 120+ and keep a really good following distance (in some places the visibility was terrible!).

Did not feel anything much except when overtaking those big trucks then felt the car "drifted"a little. [sweatdrop]

* this favorite tourist stop-over was a surprise bonus given by co-organizer Phmaksg. Otherwise, we would not had discovered this place.
