My company have a 3 tonne forklift and I have the forklift licence. :D

Why you want to use an "Open" category vehicle to lift a Cat A car? Use only for Beemers and Mercs (lol)

Nope it won't damage the under carriage. Cars are not that weak, don't worry. Issues are not about the undercarriage actually.

 

1. Fuel/brake lines the runs alone the undercarriage.

2. Exhaust pipe.

 

These two are more more of an issue rather than undercarriage. The undercarriage is actually reinforced on the sides (below the door). There is a vertical strip of metal running along the undercarraige on each side of the car. this is its the strongest and where you place your jack. The fork will be in contact with these strips instead.

 

If they do it carefully unlikely, however a lot of the grey import cars me and my friends used to buy when we were back in melbourne were forklifted into and out of the shipping containers. Some had damaged chassis rails from being forklifted, so it is possible to damage the car.
