The sull syn turned black after 1 week while semi-syn took a month or more. I have also used expensive good quality motorcycle EO (Castrol) and cheaper full syn motorcycle oil sold over the supermarket. The Castrol EO turned black as soon as I reached home while the supermarket EO is till brownish after one year. An EO that is doing a proper job of cleaning up the engine internals should turn black after a short period of use. SO, please do your oil change interval according to car manufacturer's recommended schedules, not colour of EO.
