Zard Neutral Newbie May 13, 2011 Share May 13, 2011 seriously, i never see politicians as a holy man... most of them fight for their own interest only... their initial intention might be noble, but once power is on their hand, they starts to change... That's the reason why parliament cannot be dominated by any 1 party...even in Taiwan where there r 2 main parties, ex-president Ah Bian was charged 4 corruption But at least they have the kuomintang to dig out the s--t... But for S'pore, currently opposition not powerful enough to dig out MIW s--t... Instintively, i believe there's a whole load of s--t within MIW rite now, just tat no one dares 2 expose them ↡ Advertisement
Wolfy3769 2nd Gear May 13, 2011 Share May 13, 2011 big picture everyone can say.. but when that big picture does not involve that person... it is very diff to accept... somehow abit disappointed by this eric tan...committee no voice... suddenly he himself become the voice... lucky he nvr get voted as MP this time round cause really cant imagine what kind of damage will he do to the party if he really become a MP in GE2011... remember that 2 1-term MP of some opposition party..... they do more harm than good. Icedream 1st Gear May 13, 2011 Share May 13, 2011 whilst I empathise with Eric Tan's feelings... I feel he is jumping the gun by quiting. If Gerald is slated to be the spearhead for East Coast GRC battle so be it. Eric should show his support and become Gerald's general. So when WP wins the GRC, Eric would still be able to be MP. Now, he throw in towel... lose both NCMP seat and also chance to be next MP. Sometimes in war, must take one step back to move 2 steps forward. Don't be like PAP Aljunied team - just lose 1 election all become quitter. If opposition had been quitting everytime they lose election, today there will be no opposition in singapore. Agree. The committee has voted thus Eric should support the decision. By quiting and announcing to the press does not project well on him. He cannot see the big picture. Looks like the commitee has made the right decision not to select him.
KARTer 2nd Gear May 13, 2011 Share May 13, 2011 aiyo...win a few extra seat already have power conflict. imagine if oppo win more seats or even collectively win more than half the seats and form a coalition - can u imagine the fallout? if 0-man kicks the backet, PAP will also split ............ fortunately for the past 50 years, 0-man's iron-fist tactics prevented the split........ natural thing for any political parties, to stay intact, they need a very strong leader

Which is why Taiwan people are not afraid of the gov. Any time the gov implement some unpopular policy or anyone not doing their job properly, on next election out they go. So both strong party are trying to do their best to please the citizen. Unlike our arrogant PAP, who even threaten the citizen if you don't vote for them!! Acemundo Supercharged May 13, 2011 Share May 13, 2011 (edited) So what's the approriate ratio? i expected this question to come from you because you are the only intelligent pap supporter in this forum and there's no other way to force a stalemate other than this question. the next you will start to say the ratio i proposed is not fair or won't achieve the purpose, or that you have a different opinion that the current ratio is sufficient, and it will surely end in a stalemate. 1seabiscuit Neutral Newbie May 15, 2011 Share May 15, 2011 Always hear ppl kpkb never help and respect old workers. Life is not easy when u get old here. Jobs r offered to FT or younger ones. I really pity Eric Tan worked so hard then also has to LL give up his opportunity to young one.
