Joseph22 Turbocharged May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 does it mean general populace of people staying in private are more discerning than the general populace of heartlanders? or they got more money heck care the upgrading carrots? of course they pay more tax and only get 100 dollars for the growth package despite been the main reason of growth. ↡ Advertisement
Moredhel 2nd Gear May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 I think any effort to organize activities and events in Aljunied should be done together with WP, so as to avoid duplication of effort and resources? Carrying out such activities, be it fund raising or organising events, with the involvement of WP also shows a united front and the "Aljunied spirit"! Yes, I'm planning to inform WP and carry out the activities in a transparent manner. I'm not from Aljunied, but I'm against the incumbent using or witholding citizen's funds to their advantage. This is most un-democratic and I'm trying to put in my efforts as a Singaporean to level the playing field as much as I can.
Acemundo Supercharged May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 no. it seems to me that they are not biting "favouring the rich" polices. enough is enough. remember, they had 5 years to change. i am just somewhat suprised cos the poor people had to grapple with issues of hdb prices, rising costs of living, job loss to foregin workers while richer people had less to lose under pap rule. only a few car business owner were upset with the high coe and a few restaurant owner with the high foreign workers levy in current months. most of them would have paid lower personal taxes. but then the growth dividend probably more bite for the hdb dwellers than the pte owners. Iisterry 3rd Gear May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 lol. not necessarily. look at East coast Look at Mountbatten! Only 50+% for LBC. He has strong connections within the "CCs" Hopefully Mountbatten will get absorbed back into MP GRC so I can assist in doing an "Aljunied".
Acemundo Supercharged May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 of course they pay more tax and only get 100 dollars for the growth package despite been the main reason of growth. no la, but under pap policy, their personal taxes actually reduce significant amount each year. Darryn Turbocharged May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 Its not fair because the money for such structures, etc come from taxpayers money. As such it belongs to the people, and not to a political party. Thus they have no right to remove it. One thing that you should be sure of though is that: 1) It is legal 2) There won't be much transperancy to allow you to challenge the judgement of the PA in how advisors are appointed. 3) As the RC / CC / PA structure is "apolotical" it is also wrong to say that the WP politicians "must" be appointed as advisors to these organisations. If you really want to know more - why not write to the PA and ask how, why and for what period RC advisors are appointed, what are their roles and responsibilities and how they are "appraised" (in other words - what are the KPI of an advisor). This may well be an interesting exercise....
Joseph22 Turbocharged May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 (edited) no la, but under pap policy, their personal taxes actually reduce significant amount each year. yeah lah joking mah since carret is mention. so must flow with the flow. anyway, boonlay used to be traditional stronghold of PAP(used to garner 70 over % of votes when contested) that might be the reason why they absorb it into East coast. Felipe 3rd Gear May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 See the national divide now Brudders ?? I'd stand on the National side till I die. its a difference of opinion than national divide. pap supporters don't really care about whether the govt is fair or not. they just want pap cos pap can take care of them, or so they feel. non-pap supporters care about the principles of justice and equality, and to some, maybe hoping WP can take better care of them, but that's unlikely considering they've less resource to do so. it's normal. every country will have the pro govt and not pro. that's the good thing about democracy. if only the ruling party is not the one setting the rules of the election. Kb27 Supersonic May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 Where does the funds come from to build these facilities? If tax payers money means it is part of government property. The destruction of these facilities can be considered vandalism. If these funds are from the p8p's own pockets, then they have 1001 reasons to remove them. And it also shows how "small air" there are when it comes to losing. Reminds me of the Iraqis setting fire to all of Kuwait's oil wells when they are losing the war. Same argument for hdb upgrading. Funds come from where? PAP pocket ?

Alim 1st Gear May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 I thought that was involving Cynthia Phua and not LHH? What Iam surprised at is that more of the richer people actually vote for opposition in Aljunied..I always have this impression that the well-off and richer people tend to vote for PAP instead.. They don't need RC, they need privacy. "The foreign workers' dormitory in Serangoon Gardens could begin operations in August, says the area's MP, Mrs Lim Hwee Hua." CNA Cynthis Phua probably because of her proposal to have a litter index and conservancy charges can be linked in terms of dollar amount because there will be an increased cost to cleaning dirtier estates. In short, increase S&CC. Plus, her "famous moment" when she got the 17-year-old low-IQ boy arrested for slamming the chair. This really nailed her. Kb27 Supersonic May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 Can see very clearly that these P8P supporters thinking are very self-centered. Is all about ME....yes ME.........just ME......... Selfish, self-centred and don't want to rock the boat. They want their upgrading and willing to pay for it. Short-sighted people. Too bad, there's still 60% of them around. Xeryh 3rd Gear May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 That's not true. Personal taxes only go up, never down. Even with the 20% rebate, I still ended up paying significantly more than last year. Compared to others who paid much lower taxes while enjoying the same 'services', can imagine how unbalanced the richer folks feel. no la, but under pap policy, their personal taxes actually reduce significant amount each year. Acemundo Supercharged May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 erh personal tax rate either goes down or the exempt income goes up each year. of course if you got increase income that translates to increase taxes, it should be a HAPPY PROBLEM otherwise for folks that had the same income as previous year, they should see some drop
