Dear all bros,

Now that GE 2011 is over, let's concentrate on getting an Opposition Candidate in as our President to overlook on what PAP Ministers are doing!

We cannot let PAP YES man be President. George Yeo is OUT too! Choose him to be a President is just a Carrot before election only, now let's vote Tan Kin Lian as our new elected President!

I hope some prominent figures from the financial sectors can contest the seat, someone like CSM calibre. You can't have ex-PAP people occupying the seat all the time.

Remembered the DBS top brass who was against OCT during the presidential election? OCT only won by small margin and that DBS top brass (can't remember his name) didn't do much campaigning at all. This means it is possible that a non-PAP chap has a chance to win given the current political climate.

How about Dr Tony Tan?

I know he's a PAP man... but he's got the qualifications and the stature.

Whilst he may be supporting PAP, I don't think a President is given any opportunity to do checks and balances anyway, as they really have tied his hands to the bedposts. So there is no difference whether the President is pro-PAP or pro-People ... they'll never release the accounts for the reserves, either way.

sorry to burst the bubble. The post of President is supposed to be shared amongst the races of Singapore and OTC was elected because the miw failed to groom a Malay candidate. I maybe wrong though!

1. Eusoffe Ishak

2. Benjamin Sheares

3. Devan Nair

4. Wee kim Wee

5. Ong Teng Cheong (elected)

6. Devan Nair

7. ??

Don't forget :

6. SR Nathan

Yeah.. that was the system BEFORE the elected presidency. In the E.P. the race no longer is a criteria.

my bad bro! 6th should be SR Nathan not Devan Nair again. THE PRESIDENCY is just a figure head and whoever and which race is sitting on it is secondary. The EP was exercised because of failure of the miw to groom one of the minority races for reasons only known to them. So most probably it is a one-off event. Now there will also be zainul abidin but he is not malay hor!

Thats the thing, we need someone who has no tie with PAP to check on them, not another YES man. Keep them on their toes!

The election doesn't stop non-PAP talents from contesting. With such political climate, I'm sure we will see hopeful coming to contest them. I hope WP can drives it at least. The presidential election cannot goes uncontested.

It's a palindrome. The next 'elected' President would be a Eurasian. My guess, Barry Desker.

Ideal thinking... but the PAP has learned from its OTC fiasco... now, they have so effectively tied the EP's hands - no matter its a PAP man or a non-PAP man, the EP will not be "allowed" to question them or keep anyone on their toes. Whatever pertinent questions the EP raises, will be stonewalled effectively.
