Why not a Cruze. It is feature rich and has a reasonable amount of poke. 6 speed gearbox. The other variant like Kia Hatch and even a little bit intersting Kia Soul face lift with LED headlights may be a inetesting alternative.

Nowadays, depeciation is no longer the buzz word . Its enjoyability and ownership experience.

if you want a low depreciation, just go for the cheapest car possible with the longest remaining COE

the model doesn't really matter because a higher end model will always cost more

however reliability will be an issue if you plan to purchase a car >5 years so either you must know how to check and test a car properly b4 buying or you'll be really foolish to purchase an old car just for the depreciation figures

is it true that yearly depreciation rates depends on the prevailing market value of the car?

because if it does then, it may be possible for certain models that has a higher resale value to depreciate less?

Chrysler Grand Voyager SE, you can get it between $6.5k to 7k depreciation per year. Will you be getting one? I can be quite sure the answer is NO. Annual depreciation accounts for only approximately 1/4 the total cost of owning a car. That's true as far as I'm concerned.

Reliability has no direct and exclusive relation to age of car. 1-day old car can be the pits too if it tracked the whole day or it met with an accident the moment it passed the first traffic light. It is a false sense of security to think that reliability will not be an issue for a <5 year-old car or that it is very likely/definitely an issue for a >5 year-old car.
