Sw20 2nd Gear May 4, 2011 Share May 4, 2011 I am a supporter of a non-existent party. I am a Singaporean who used to live overseas, but came back to serve NS and back here for my family. Found my love for singapore the longer i stayed here. Yes, I do own sports cars if you read my previous post. It was not because of the present government that I got a job and buy my cars. Like most singaporeans, coming from a poor home, growing up without my parents around in a rental flat. I was too young to know the value of money then. My Grandparents are the closest i've got. My mum had to save $$$ to send me overseas and that is how i learn the value of $$$ when i was living all by myself in my teens. Having watched the old videos of our Government from the 80's to present. Many years ago, The Government has our interests at heart. They listen to us, they helped us grow and mold us as people of Singapore. Back then, everything was affordable and life was simple. Times, have changed in the last 10 years. Our plights have been ignored to basic needs and the assistance is not enough to fill the stomach of those unable to work. Those people who are unable to work are Elderly, Sick and the uneducated aged. Are those in prison better fed than them? Is freedom a high cost? The people who dressed themselves in white, i feel they are so distant now compared to the 80s. They said they need an increment of pay to attract those talents from private sectors to Govt sector. I feel that they have gotten the meaning of Government all wrong. You are the Government because you have the passion to drive your nation and people forward. Your 1st and foremost thought is for the people. If people are joining the Government for the sake of money, where are the people and nation in their hearts? People like Obama and other Presidents from USA, if they need help in businesses and advise who do they turn to? They look for Donald Trump and Bill Gates for help and The CITIZENS help voluntarily. If the nation and people are healthy, automatically businesses are healthy. If once the business is healthy, you get job opportunities and you grow economically. Isn't this what our Grandfather Lee Kwan Yew did before? I am not talking about negatives of what he did or done.... but he got the simple formula right to get the nation going the right way. I would say, the government has forgetting its people and Singapore's resource is always People! About property, I am staying in Ghim Moh. How is the property value going to drop if our MP is not PAP? We are living near ORCHARD road. Property prices goes up because of DEMAND and someone claim he did it. If someone sells, and no one wants it, doesn't the price come down? What if people wants to live within 10mins drive to Orchard, wouldn't the price be high? Makes sense? Honestly, now I want a Coalition Government. I love having the PAP because they have good business sense and having lots of business Allies world-wide. It is this business sense that us Singaporeans have jobs and growing economy. At the same time, I love having other people in Parliament to speak for us because they have us in their hearts. They know our hardship and they know the value of HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH. Our present government says, it has giving alot, but what is ALOT? Is it enough for us? Tan Jee Say has credentials... I would love for him to speak for us when Singapore is making a decision to invest. We are people we do make mistakes, we do say sorry. But even though we are angry, our mind must still make sense and make cents. Thank you WP and SPP for speaking on our behalves all these years. About over-spending in the YOG... Honestly, is doesn't matter how much the amount is at least, Singapore has volunteered holding THE FIRST world stage event not knowing the actual cost. Is a magnificent achievement. Is because of this unnecessary spending, we have made more international friends to do business with in the present and future. I would love to see fairness to the people and businesses. No more cartel pricing, no more 1 driver, but a co-driver. We need FT in Singapore, but not those who are stealing our jobs. I still have so much more to say. Not sure if you guys would love to read what I have to say. But I would love to read your point of views. Thank you for reading my fellow singaporeans. ↡ Advertisement
Shull Turbocharged May 4, 2011 Share May 4, 2011 The YOG overspending might look 'worth it' from a international relation point-of-view.. But we have to note that the person in charge is Dr VB.. The same Dr VB who refused to increase the PA assistance to the poor by $1/day ($30/mth).. And this is after a request from Dr Lily Neo..
Sw20 2nd Gear May 4, 2011 Author Share May 4, 2011 I believe the other Political Parties deserve a place in the heart of every Singaporean speaking out for us. Why are they called Oppositions? Why can't the current Government be called Oppositions? Isn't Oppositions the ones or thoughts we are against? Let's get rid of the thought of Opposition... get rid of this brain wash thing of exclusions as oppositions.

And when i explain to them if that PAP lose this time and they will be known as opposition. Nowadays alot of companies using KPI etc... I have a stupid thinking that we should peg IQ level to the "weight" of a vote? Normal IQ 100:1 Above then normal IQ 136:1.36%

Normal IQ 100:1 Above then normal IQ 136:1.36% brother, in theory good but in practical perspective bad. like that pap will court all the elites vote with money also don't forget MM during the last decade did mooted giving senior citizens more votes ie senior citizens' vote count as 2 while non senior citizen votes count as 1 for obvious reason you know why because he know that senior citizens are emotionally attached to pap. Normal IQ 100:1 Above then normal IQ 136:1.36% Nah - I neither need nor want more than one and a half votes. One (eligible) man, one vote. The one thing I would change is to administer an advanced truth serum to everybody so that they vote the way they REALLY want to. I can abide by a person voting for the rulers if they truly want to go that way, but I just cannot stomach another vote for them out of paranoia ("they know how you voted"). 1fast1 Supersonic May 4, 2011 Share May 4, 2011 Of course, noone actually *needs* a fantastical truth serum that's not been invented. There are very simple systems that we can put in place right now, that assure both the accountability (no fake votes) and secrecy (no way to link your vote back to you) of voting. I've outlined a simple "lucky dip, slip in an envelope" system here: http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=3016937 Will it be implemented despite its simplicity? Not a chance. Because some people do have a vested interest in the irrational fears of others.
A5SB 1st Gear May 4, 2011 Share May 4, 2011 I hope Singaporeans wake up this election and vote wisely for the future of their children and themselves. PAP (LKY) probably predicted the day will come when we all wake up from our slumber, and decided to have a different government. To prevent that from happening, they freely import foreigners, with the excuse that it's good for the economy. Like all good lies, there's a bit of truth in it, but it's the real intention that is questionable. So they offered scholarships, ease of entry, ease of application for citizenship, ease of buying properties and other perks. So that these new citizens feel beholden to the govt (PAP), and have every vested selfish interest for voting PAP back in power again. Maybe the only miscalculation is that the day of awakening may have come 5 - 10 years sooner than expected. Whether or not this is so we will know on 8th May. I sincerely believe, PAP only need to survive this round of election, bring in 1M foreigners, then they can stay in power through the next generation. Whether this will happen, it's in your hands. Poper 2nd Gear May 4, 2011 Share May 4, 2011 the booming GDP did work very well, for the ministers. I was at a MNC bank office lately and counted the # of Indian nationals walking in/out.. It's 99% all foreigners.. Last week, my company (an MNC also) had an employee's session with about 100+ people attending.. From one glance, I think 50%-60% are all foreign talents too... With this kind of foreign competitors keep coming in, how can GDP grow translate to benefits for us? How about our kids in 10-20 years time?

2day Neutral Newbie May 4, 2011 Share May 4, 2011 Below is a post in yahoo. The future is not far away. "NS Joe, recruiting 2 new PAP candidates with even less than 3 years as Singaporean citizen is to garner the votes from their fellow countrymen in their home countries who are plentiful here!!! In the next 5 yrs, many more PRs will be converted to Singaporeans and by then it will be impossible to put the opposition parties into the parliament to be the auditors to do the check and balance as these new citizens will all be voting for PAP!!! So ATTENTION ALL FELLOW SINGAPOREANS, SPREAD THIS MESSAGE AMONG YOUR FAMILIES, EXTENDED FAMILIES, NEIGBOURS, COLLEAGUES AND FRIENDS TO VOTE THE OPPOSITIONS IN, WHATEVER OPPOSITION THAT IS CONTESTING IN YOUR GRC OR SMC. IT'S NOW OR IT WILL BE TOO LATE!!! OUR FUTURE AND OUR CHILDREN'S FUTURE ARE IN OUR HANDS!!! VOTE FOR THE OPPOSITION OR SINGAPORE WILL REALLY BECOME A HOPLESS SLUM!!!! WE SHOULD SAVE OURSELVES BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE..."
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 4, 2011 Share May 4, 2011 (edited) Same observation since they introduced Gangsters-Rob-Citizens to bar citizens from voting for the candidates of the citizens' choice. Ideally a coalition government. Do not vote those who introduced Gangsters-Rob-Citizens to make us slaves to the Elites.
