Vulcann 6th Gear May 7, 2011 Author Share May 7, 2011 It is regrettable that he had had to put up with so many obstacles in order to carry out his duties. But I dare say what he did has earn the full respect of all Singaporeans till this day & possibly in the future. Like mentioned earlier, we may never see such a people's president again. Unless someone like George Yeo who can step into the big shoes & prove that I am wrong. Let's just hope that we will be blessed to have another president of the late Mr Ong's calibre: unblemished character, due diligence & his love of the people. Jolie888 Clutched May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 For George Yeo, losing the Aljunied GRC and thus, his FM portfolio may be a blessing in disguise. If ever he were to go on, to stand for the presidency election in end-2011 and if he wins, he would definitely thank LTK and the WP for it. Imagine, from earning between $1-2M/year as a cabinet minister, he will then be upgraded to a $4M/yr job as president!!!
Tedlhw 5th Gear May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 i envy him... Gonna start earning big bucks at private sector soon.. Pity him now he is minister, taking paycut to earn only 2.2m instead of the usual 5/6m at private sector. Out of curiosity, does anyone know if he's going to get a pension? The PAP already has its candidate in Tan Cheng Bock... they won't be behind GY?... so far the signal is that Tan Cheng Bock is NOT the PAP's preferred candidate. Anyway, between the two - i'd go for Tan Cheng Bock - at least he seems more neutral than George Yeo, who is 90% a PAP-sided man.
