Speedz76 2nd Gear May 1, 2011 Share May 1, 2011 (edited) to the above question: To me, this is an unfair statement Firstly, opp are not paid 15K/mth to manage the constituency. They have their own jobs and livelihood to take care of. What can we expect them to do, lobby for policies actively? Anything non-elected opp do is out of their own free will and free time... they may be doing something, or not doing anything.. we cannot make any judgement on that... and hey.. they are not even "elected MPs"!! Elections is the best times to focus and reach out to the masses.. which other time can give one so much coverage? Secondly, media gives priority to the ruling party, so what can we expect? Thirdly, the Ruling party should be the one that is present, as they are earning 15K/mth to take care of our constituency, I, for one, have NEVER seen my MP or heard about the MP coming around or reach out in my neighbourhood... LTK explain in his bedok stadium rally the issues they faced as opp members (e.g. need to have meet people session in void decks, permits for events rejected etc). It is not that they don't want but they cannot do it legally.

Whenever they want to organise something for the residents they must apply for permit with the CC and everytime it was rejected.

So sorry, I believe there are some inaccuracy/errors:- Firstly, non-ruling parties are not paid at $15,000/- monthly per head, so the ruling party has to do the job. Secondly, the media with due respect to the ruling party have to give priority to the ruling party. Thirdly, the ruling party's GRCs are busy hiding among their own shadows, so never noticed the presence of others.
