Never ever put baby at the front.

Never follow parents advice as traffic move faster now.

Just leave the baby behind and ownself entertain ownself

Hi, I have a new born twins, and I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra sedan, however, putting 2 car seats at the rear does not seems to have enough space for my wife to sit in the middle to take care both of them. I have surveyed and asking ppl surround me, most people do not recommend me to put 1 car seat at the front seat with rear facing, my car air bag cannot turn off easily.

However, my parents keep asking me to put 1 car seat behind, and my wife carrying one baby beside at the rear, it is driving me crazy as everyone has thier opinion and claim that they are the safest.

for myself inisially I want to put 2 car seats behind with 2 mirrors to monitor, but I will be driving in a long distance (not too long but just 30 to 40 minutes) in the coming days, so I am struggling which option to opt for.

Any advice?

I have 3 kids and myself and wife have never sat in the back with them ever since they were born. 5 seater Suzuki liana was what I had then. All of them in their individual car seat with rear facing seats as needed depending on their age. In the trunk was a double side by side stroller.
Those who say cannot don’t know what they are talking  about  🤣

LoL...so stressed out. Congrats on the twins btw.

From my own experience sometimes I had to put the baby seat in front cos it is just me and the baby in the car. Be it front facing or rear facing I adjust for the baby seat to be lying down and not inclined, move the front seat as far back as possible.

What you can do is put one baby, rear facing, in front then shift the front passenger seat back until it touches the other baby seat. The babies on one side, you and your wife on the other. anyway it is just 30mins car ride. You decide lah. Safety comes at a price for a car. For better safety you have to get a better car. Just make do with what you have now.

At least you bother to have your babies properly strapped to the seats. A lot of ppl I see dont care.

any sedan will struggle to fit 2 full sized child seats + seat someone in the center cos of the wheel arches

I think some compact SUV can do so simply cos they are above the wheel arches. But need to buy those compact car seats which cant be too wide.

Crying depends on the kid. My girl didnt stop crying in her car seat until she was like almost 2 years old. But she was very difficult to manage as an infant/toddler. My girl can really cry for hours. But she's definitely not the norm.

hmm those with kids will know when your own kid cries, something goes off in your brain. Other kids cry is just annoying.
It's not possible to truly ignore your kids' cries even if u know they are well.

Thanks for all the feedback bros! Yes, my initial thought is to follow the rules and put 2 babies behind, and of course do the best with whatever I have, as the distance might be longer than I expected and it is a 2 way trip. So I think safety come first!

I will "do" the talk with my parents...

I have a stupid question but cant find the answer online somehow. Can one seat 2 adults and 2 children(<135m) in the rear seat of a sedan? I can see that it can be done in taxis but cannot in own car? Is it due to mandatory car seats in private car for children <135cm?

Yes. 1 adult and each of the child under 135cm in an appropriate child seat. The remaining adult can be unbelted.
the rule is children are belted and all belts are used.

If the 2 kids are belted in their child seat and 1 adult also belted, I dun see how the 2nd adult can squeeze in even if unbelted.

Then you have to decide who will be without seatbelt.
