Sg tint rule not applicable to Msia car.

Similarly, Msia tint rule also doesn’t apply to Sg car

it gets darker after prolonged exposure under the sun, like our skin

STA guy told me one

I ask chatgpt🤭

”No, factory privacy glass (the kind that’s tinted during manufacturing, not aftermarket film) typically doesn’t get darker over time, even under intense sunlight. The tint is integrated into the glass itself, so it’s more durable and resistant to fading or changing color compared to stick-on tint films.

However, prolonged sun exposure can sometimes cause minor changes in appearance — not by getting darker, but potentially by fading slightly or developing a hazy look if the glass quality or UV protection is subpar. This usually takes many years in harsh conditions.

If you’re noticing a change, it could also be due to surface wear (like scratches or dirt buildup) rather than the tint itself changing. Would you like some tips on maintaining privacy glass to keep it looking sharp?”

no need tips. just break and claim insurance to change it out. 😁

old glass especially the windscreen, after a while, there will be nicks and scratches. no way to polish. only change it out for clearer vision.

Maybe Vicom don't know wtf is going on, they see too dark, just fail it

Or Vicom has the spec of the vehicle before inspection starts and know what are factory options?

Some PI dealers go for homologation with M2L3 spec privacy glass which is the minimum spec to pass inspection. Then later on, give buyers cars with M2L4 spec privacy glass, which comes by default on Jap PI cars. Meaning, the dealer supposed to change the glass to M2L3 spec upon car's arrival in SG but did not do so. Play cheat and sabo customer lor.

i like to go early if i can. if i'm not wrong, the window opens 3 months before the due date.

give more time to fix issues if required. Fortunately so far no major issues that required a return for 2nd inspection

Thanks, you guys are right. Stars aligned yesterday and I was able to drop by an inspection centre at 8am before heading to office. The staff at the counter said that my car plate won't even show up in the auto payment machine if I was not within the window. My plate did show up, therefore in this case if LTA say can go means can go.

Strange observation, the test machine said my headlights failed, but in the end inspection still Passed (not that I'm complaining). Kaypoh check in one motoring and inspection status is updated too.

headlight have always failed. their machine CMI.... too sensitive and troublesome to calibrate. but then actually they should make it work well. many cars have misaligned headlights.

Their headlight inspection machines all never calibrate. My headlights aligned sui sui but NEVER passed by the machine before for donkey years. That's Bukit Batok inspection centre. They know their machine all spoilt never repair/replace so just pass every car.
