PRs are not Singapore Citizens. Why then are they lumped together with the citizens in the job statistics? The only reason I can think of: smokescreen to obscure the true stats. The presidential election is coming up next and all citizens should know what to do with their vote.

That got to be one of the biggest myth (right next to the 7% GST) that the govt has forced down our throat.

In fact there is absolutely no way to prove that creating jobs for foreigners results in good jobs for real Singaporeans. However based on anecdotal evidence, it's totally not true. The place where I work, I am one of the very few real Singaporeans. The jobs created was not "purposely" for locals, it's just by chance and good fortune that I was one of the few of got the job.

And I'm absolutely sure my company is not the exception.

he's perhaps surrounded with singaporeans working for him...he should really walk the ground, alone to see what's happening.. or is it a deliberate smoke screen?

one of my client, a GLC, is definitely swamped with foreigners & 'new' citizens... from top to bottom.

of the bunch of over 20 people i deal with regularly at this client, i counted...only 2 are singaporeans.

these are not worker-level type of jobs, but mid-senior managerial & directors. their assistants are also non-local.

no singaporean willing to do these jobs? can't find a qualified singaporean to do these jobs? c'mon... [thumbsdown]

i'm just waiting for the time they start demanding my company swap me away cos they prefer someone from their village to service them [shakehead]

Our education system is a total failure.

None of the people who graduate here are good enough to do a job.

We need FT to fill all the jobs.

Kinda remind you of the show STARSHIP TROOPERS.

The alien insect hordes keep attacking & attacking until one fine day they may just breech the defences of the human civilization...

No. No. Not a total failure.

We now have a population that can see through the smoke screen. [;)]

I need such a job and willing to take 2/3 of what they pay to these 'foreign residents'. Please PM me the company name and I shall apply. I wish to 'displace' one of those directors and take back a position that should be ours. I'm currently unemployed.

Good luck bro, for finding a job.

I too wonder if (touchwood) that if I lost my job (for some unforsee reasons), I will be able to get an equalivence job back?

If you think now is bad, think of the time when your children are all grown up & looking for work...

I spoke with many of my friends, & they lament the same thing. Everywhere is flooded with FT. Only our Government are still delusional or refuse to see the actual picture.
