today's question: if you managing TPL what would your strategy be to build her credibility?

i am no guru but here is wat i think:

step 1: turn back the clock.

dress down like a heartlander and roll sleeves. since she used to "work" in a coffeeshop for yrs. wat she can do now is to find various strategic coffeeshops in marine parade. start making coffee ( i mean literally make kopi by herself to justify her "kopi soh" claim) and serve any customer with a big smile. start small talks to get ppl comfortable and ask them to raise any problems they faced. remember to talk about b&b issues more.

sit down and chat abit more if neccessary but never talk too much about manifesto. the key here is listen only. just like any coffeeshop in singapore. coffeeshop is a massive information collection playground.

this will bring ppl closer and get to know her better. also for her to get to know the real ground issues better.

all procceed for the kopi will go to charity.

step 2: show resolute determination and resolve issues

identify problems. if cannot resolve at her level, invite them to have another chat with the help of grassroot. if problem is something she can resolve or advice, give it appropriately to showcase her corporate experience that will be useful for her.

step 3: turning adversity to advantage

share her after thoughts of wat she hear, how she feel. at the end of the day in facebook, twitter or any communication platform. share her views and ideas on how to help the residents.. feel abit helpless in her words. get netizen to contribute for ideas and listen. open up total communication platform.

she is young and it is a fact. a keen attitude to learn given her young age will score points with many ppl who think they r smarter, more experience, mature and allow the young voters to associate with her.

eat the humble pie and invite op to attack her by opening her facebook comments. set up a stage for sympathy. eg: despite her lack of experience, she is trying to learn but op just keep attacking her. this will invite sympathy votes from gen y.

the above should execute weekly (but preferably daily as time is short). get GCT and team to go and support her towards the end of campaign period to show that her work is drawing attention from party and help is on the way.

lastly, if the above still don't work..

go back to step 1 again. but this time in bikini. it should work alright by then. [:p]

two cents worth.

and if all that don't work... quit and join the opposition... they'd hardly criticise one of their own...

Some content may not be accepted by all as we are not trained counseller / adviser, we seek your tolerant. My advice is based on experiences / exposure/s committed to give an honest & direct answer, no profanity & accusation to be taken of any kind, in an event that it misfired, it should be taken as a pinch of salt. Thank you !

For me, my strategy would be like this.

1. Give interview to youth reporters from Youth Ink / Little Red Dot - send the message of how to get involved in politics as a young person and the importance of having an opinion and being involved. This will help her to propagate that she does actually have an opinion. (if she doesn't, then I would tutor her into some opinions on policies etc)

2. Team her with Penny Low (who founded a charitable something or other) and have her host a forum at one of the Poly on "Volunteerism in Politics" - Penny is clever and can help shield her from the tough questions and would again help her to showcase her quality

3. Genuinely and openly engage on her facebook pages, responding to comments and offering thoughts

4. Start a "campaigning blog", updated twice a day with stuff that she has seen and learnt on the campaign trail

5. Have her visit two popular youth hangout sites per day in the weekend to engage with young people. Do this without a large retinue, just maybe her and 2-3 friends and just let her talk to the young age group.
