Dark_flan 2nd Gear April 24, 2011 Share April 24, 2011 Is this brand any good? As I am thinking of replacing my old suspension due to normal wear and tear by high mileage already.
SupperTime Clutched April 24, 2011 Share April 24, 2011 Its good, I run tokico blues and they outperform D2 coilovers without bottoming out or sacrificing comfort. The jarring ride (dependent on spring) can be as uncomfortable as a coilover on a normal straight road though. Side by side, tokico is better than monroe (sensatrac) , kyb (GR2) i feel. If your feeling brave go try the illuminas, they rock too.
Dark_flan 2nd Gear April 24, 2011 Share April 24, 2011 Hmm whts the rough market price include installation for this? I have KYB offer, think should be the GR-2. Think around $600 + abit. Was told Tomiko is cheaper by about $100+ but was told not to take the Tomiko as inferior.. Not sure.

Was told Tomiko is cheaper by about $100+ but was told not to take the Tomiko as inferior.. Not sure. The tokico blues as a comparative guideline are about 850. However, there is a difference to note: As far as i know from using GR-2s way back, they are simply just the "shocks" and not a complete strut. With the blues, it is the interior shock factory welded with the complete "leg" and strut as one package. So i could not see myself getting my money's worth with GR2s in that sense, if its going to be just the inner shocks that are tiny. It should be noted that GR2s are hydraulic gas suspensions, while the Tokicos are twin tube filled oil struts. No comments on the tomiko as i have no experience with them. Dark_flan 2nd Gear April 25, 2011 Share April 25, 2011 Think I spelt it wrongly. Should be tokico.. Not sure of spelling but sounds like the ones you have but whether its the blue or whatsoever I have no idea as this shop is not focusing on the suspensions... Not sure of spelling but sounds like the ones you have but whether its the blue or whatsoever I have no idea as this shop is not focusing on the suspensions... oh i see, no problem bro. if i may say so from experience, some shops which generalize car parts tend to make a big profit out of items. bought my suspension in the U.S and had it shipped here on fedex international economy, it was only about $70 for the shipping. if your feeling in the mood for some treasure hunting, it may be worthwhile to assess the different absorbers and find an overseas supplier. or if you dont have the time, it might be best to go with the KYBs. ↡ Advertisement
