Chickenbackside 1st Gear April 12, 2011 Share April 12, 2011 There is no such thing as spot reduction. Without getting your body fat down to a level where your abs show through, no amount of any ab exercise will help them become more visible. In fact, the opposite is true. If you increase the size of your ab muscles with a 30% body fat level, you stomach is going to appear even BIGGER than if you don't do any ab exercise. The layer of fat in front of your ab muscles will hide whatever abs you have. However, even if you don't do a single ab exercise and lose body fat through diet alone, you are going to have visible abs once you hit a certain body fat level 10-15% usually. The lower your body fat, the more obvious your abs will be. It is at this time that it makes sense to exercise your abs for the sake of aesthetics. In other words, you want abs? Go on a diet first. Whathefish 5th Gear April 12, 2011 Share April 12, 2011 Running twice a week...but tummy like not much reduction. Haha takes time...not just jog....need resistant training... for example..run 400m in 2min ..rest 1.5min then run again 400m in 2 min...do 6 set .... also when in office , watching TV or even driving...do "vacuum" simply by sucking your tummy in using the abs muscle but continue to breath...hold for as long as u can...then release n again...every little bit helps
Dirtbike Clutched April 12, 2011 Author Share April 12, 2011 ok ok....maybe i phrase my question wrongly. Good exercise to reduce tummy fats, need to lose the inches. Lolz... i dare not dream of a 6 pack now....but definitely need to cut down on the inches... So basing on above feedbacks, can i conclude that running/interval trainings will be good to lose the fats and cut down the inches? Any other kind of exercise that will helps too? Or i shld totally refrain from abs exercise, since like Chickenbackside said, it will only make my tummy look bigger.
Dirtbike Clutched April 12, 2011 Author Share April 12, 2011 I have no problems with sit-ups n crunches. I duno how good is good, but i can do about 50 sit-ups in 1min, can do 25 crunches 3 sets. But the prob is my tummy is still horrendously big. Lolz....
Chickenbackside 1st Gear April 12, 2011 Share April 12, 2011 Hard intervals will induce the desired hormonal response for fat loss. Short intense bursts rather than long drawn out jogs. But whatever it is, you cannot out exercise a bad diet. Exercise makes you hungry. When you're hungry, you eat more. Go back to square 1. Take it from a person who has lost 50kg, and kept it off for a few years so far, the most effective way is to cut sugar and refined carbohydrates out of your diet. Even if you don't exercise, you will lose weight.

Chickenbackside 1st Gear April 12, 2011 Share April 12, 2011 Not true. Yes, although veggies are mainly a carbohydrate, but the are the last thing you should worry about. Along with the little carbs they contain, they also contain plenty of vitamins and minerals and fibre. They're ok to eat. Take this example: 1 cup of spaghetti has 43g of carbs. 1 cup of broccoli has 6g of carbs. 1 can of regular Coke has 39g of carbs. What your focus should be is cutting out all sugar, bread, noodles...

My heart cannot take it i dont really monitor what i eat, just eat more fruits and veges. and drink lots of water
Chickenbackside 1st Gear April 12, 2011 Share April 12, 2011 CKBS...i wonder how u do that kind of diet. it is terribly difficult for me. At first difficult cos I was addicted to sugar. After a while, your body will switch to using stored fat as the preferred fuel. That's when you will change the way you perceive food. Now you give me a sip of sugar cane juice, I will spit it out. Its just too damn sweet. Anyway, the point is, you simply cannot out exercise a bad diet.
Sabretan 4th Gear April 12, 2011 Share April 12, 2011 Hardwork n determination. Hardwork in doing interval training (proven to raise ur metabolic rate which increases ur fat burning rate) and determination in controlling ur diet ( little beer, little sugar, little carbo (coz carbo if not used, it is converted to pump up ur fat cells) n of coz, ur output of energy muz be greater than ur input). Unless of coz, u go for liposuction. Cheerio n gd luck to loosing that tummy.. I couldn't give up my diet, so I juz have to contend w my little tummy. My point is intense short bursts sets up the best possible hormonal response for specifically fat loss.

Still the tummy keep getting bigger and bigger just like pregnacy .... Well, I guess this is part of aging and what that is more important is that we have to learn how to age gracefully.
