Mcf777 Turbocharged April 7, 2011 Share April 7, 2011 seriously, u should go and check the stockist price. S$400 just to change brake pad and skim the rotor is really high. I skim my front rotors, i think S$80 (really regret. a new pair of rotor cost only S$180) My front brake pad cost less than S$100 per pair. labour charge should be around S$40 - S$50 if you bring yr own parts
Unfair 3rd Gear April 7, 2011 Share April 7, 2011 I think its kinda okay for AD pricing. If i buy from stockists the stock pads and rotors should be $200-$250 only. Labour to change out should come to $50.
Mikelcy1963 1st Gear April 7, 2011 Author Share April 7, 2011 did you check how much new brake disc will cost? brake system try not to play play. Its with the AD..wait let me confirm its new or skim rotor. As I know AD normally don't do skimming. Maybe I heard wrongly. If its new rotor than I guess its not too far off. Timex1441 1st Gear April 7, 2011 Share April 7, 2011 Is $400 reasonable for a pair of new brake pads plus rotor skimming due to uneven wear ? changing brake pads no big deal, can juz agree to it. but for the rotor skimming, do u experience any vibration or weird noise when u brake? sometimes i wonder whether it's the AD workshop trying to earn more $$ even tho wat they recommend is optional (or even redundant). Dont anyhow skim. Most rotors can last the life of yr car. Maybe just change pads n see how. BTW if u do anything at AD b prepared to pay much more. Ty charge sometimes double what u pay at a good outside WS.

Pisces69 6th Gear April 7, 2011 Share April 7, 2011 (edited) *faint* it's 500 for new discs and pads. No skimming. Get a 2nd opinion from a trusted n reliable mech if yr rotors r warped in the 1st place. Why throw away good money if its not necessary? B very careful of anything u buy in SG cos now it seems like Conning the customer is the name of the game. Edited April 7, 2011 by Pisces69
Benni09 1st Gear April 7, 2011 Share April 7, 2011 (edited) Is $400 reasonable for a pair of new brake pads plus rotor skimming due to uneven wear ? Yeah.... Think u might check out the prices with the stockists before commiting. My dad's driving a korean make too (Hyundai), I used to go to Song Yi to help him purchase spare parts before i got my own ride. You can join the hyundai or Kia club (depending on ur make), shd be able to fish out more infomation. Cheers...
