Clemenzo 1st Gear March 24, 2011 Share March 24, 2011 I don't remember handphone GPS requiring data plan. GPS connects directly to satelites, my 3G was not even on during GPS use.. unless you need internet access to traffic news, weather, etc.
Tigerwoods Turbocharged March 24, 2011 Share March 24, 2011 Any bros here using free Andriod GPS on their cellphones? Like to know which ones can without a data plan (those that can download maps), thanks! My LG P500 Android phone comes with Free GPS from NDrive no need data charges as it has GPS Antenna. However, the Software sucks if you don't have Postal Code it is hard to get the address... Free Maps of Spore, Brunei and Malaysia.

Windwaver Turbocharged March 24, 2011 Author Share March 24, 2011 please remember to DISABLE the GPS program's access to Gprs (otherwise u will pay through the nose for the gprs charges) I thought it's A-GPS that should be disabled?
Dwoon 1st Gear March 24, 2011 Share March 24, 2011 Using Navfone on my Galaxy S for local use. Pretty good. (convenient as don't need to take time to bootup my GPS) Locally, I sometimes use Brut Maps (modified Google maps) but this requires data plan. For Malaysia, I have Papago M5 or was it M6.... on ipad... but don't like the interface and not detailed enough. Prefer my trusty old Garmin dedicated GPS. I'll use only if I have no other choice..... If you're on iphone, then you also have Sygic Asia.... but also not detailed.... but guess it's sufficient not to get lost. Atonchia Supersonic March 24, 2011 Share March 24, 2011 HTC Phone - Google Maps. Not too bad. The premium map is given free with the phone.
Dice 3rd Gear March 24, 2011 Share March 24, 2011 (edited) Tried Papago before I switched to Navfone which I thot is great until I strted using tomtom. All on my iPhone 3gs. Papago - I feel is really difficult to use and I get lost in its interface Navfone - pretty decent with turn by turn advice but will mute my music when announcing instruction and I have to manually unmute to get my music back. Tomtom - no complains works very well and as well if not better than than navfone and fades and unfade my music automatically. Great interface too and it has day and nite modes. Pretty cool feature where u can select the language for the routing instruction. I played with Cantonese. Haha. Edited March 24, 2011 by Dice
Dahawk Clutched March 24, 2011 Share March 24, 2011 using Garmin GMXT on my HTC HD2. I have no need for a dedicated GPS at all, i think might even rival some standalone models with my HD2's 4.3" screen Best GPS for hp ever.
Jeffang Neutral Newbie March 24, 2011 Share March 24, 2011 (edited) for program go to http://www.austech.info/gps/ for singapore /malaysia map go to http://www.malfreemaps.com/ for other map when u go oversea... just google it... very easy to find... i use garmin moblie xt / tomtom / mapking 2007 / mapking r12 / papago v7 & x3 all free (and cracked) for my htc diamond 2 and hd2, as long as you using window mobile just google gps and u can get lot of free program and map! but still find garmin moblie xt & papago v7 the best... anyway gps is free... since when need to pay??? as long as your phone with GPS (not AGPS) then dont need any data plan to use it at all... is free!
