Parkingidiot 1st Gear March 23, 2011 Share March 23, 2011 i also tried the phone cam method before, tried both Nokia and Sony phones ... it's not good enuf for many reasons. 1. clarity, no way the phone cam is a good as a dedicated hd car cam to capture number plates - which may be crucial for purposes of recording whilst driving 2. unable to loop record 3. angle of capture not wide enough 4. if call comes in recording stops... 5. sibei lecheh to keep setting up phone to record, you have to adjust angle everytime use for recording, etc, and then turn off recording for normal phone use out of car. .. It's similar to phone GPS. Yes, most smartphones have GPS - but it's inconvenient compared to dedicated GPS device, which may cost only a couple of hundred bucks these days, with larger screen and good maps. A phone cam may be useful for trial testing the usefulness of in car recording.. but for a permanent solution, it definately cannot make it.

Bystander50 5th Gear April 4, 2011 Share April 4, 2011 if need to record both front and back? [laugh] Go mod a mount and place it on the roof between the cabin lamp and rear mirror. Adjust the position such that the phone is able to capture the view from the rear mirror as well as the front. Now u got 1 hp cam that can capture front n back.
