what are you looking at? if you are really sick and tiref of vios and wanted to change it, what is your objective? If you are looking for a bigger space, then there are other option for you actually.

if you are looking for style, the few thousand dollars differents that you use to top up for a forte can make your vios looks totally different with some bodykits and custom made stickers...

not to forget, there are some risk of buying a 2nd hand car, if you bought a problematic one... prepare to spend another few thousands dollars for the repair work...

in the end of the day, car is one of the most expensive "toy" for a man... if you are sure that changing it to forte can make very happy for the next few years, then, go ahead and change it... otherwise, stay with your current ride until you really sure what you want...

have to compare power to weight ratio, not only bhp. vios is only 900plus kg

both cars are meant for transportation, not for racing. =p

even so, i think Forte should be safer than Vios.

Stability wise forte is better due to it's weight. Lighter weight got it's advantage of better fuel consumption. If not for racing get one with lighter weight. :D haven't seen you for long time, still got turf club event?

Vios is a Japanese vehicle while Forte is a Korean veh.. y waster unncessary $$ to change ur current ride? If you have spare $$, save up, till ur Vios breakeven den upgrade.. Nw thgs are so expensive.. heed my advice, divert ur $$ to elsewhere..

I don't think worth to upgrade. The forte only abit better and not worth the money and effort for the small upgrade.

Besides the transfer fees and increments in monthly instalments, there'll also be admin fees charged by the dealer ranging from 50 plus bucks to even 300 bucks depending on how much the dealer wants to charge *cough* *cheat* *cough* you. Some even factor in stupid things like GST and service charge etc just to get that extra few bucks. But that's another topic altogether. Then there'll be an increase as well as insurance I suppose since Toyota cars command one of the lowest premiums. But this last part is from what I heard, no hard solid proof either since rates differs from company to company, agent to agent.

So all in all, the increase are:

Recurring payments:

1) Instalments

2) Petrol

3) Road tax

4) maybe insurance

+

One time payment:

5) Admin fees + whatever fees they wanna squeeze in the form of GST, service charge etc

6) Transfer fees

You may also wanna consider setting aside another amt for necessary changes and rectifications for Engine oil, ATF/MTF, brake fluid and coolant as dealer usually promise upon the soul of their dead beloved puppy that they will change everything and repair anything under the sky short of giving you a new car but they're also here to make money so whatever can be saved will be saved through amnesia/cancelled handphone numbers/spoilt handphones etc.

Next is my personal opinion, if your Vios is not breaking down or giving you problems, no point changing to a Forte. Unless your pressing need to get a Forte is to have a better looking ride, which I wholeheartedly agree that the Vios is short of, there is really no need to make such a change.

Your vios is only 2 yr old, why u want to change? [confused] I think vios or forte still abt the same, no need to waste money on changing car and resetting you car loan la. Unless your vios got problems.

not to offend any vios or forte owners here so i would say vios is in the same category as forte.

taking it in that sense, why would the threadstarter want to spend money to change the car when it isn't an upgrade as they are in the same category?however, if you have spare cash. just go ahead!

Changing a 1.5ltr car to a 1.6ltr purely just on looks and very minimum "whatever" improvements is pure dumb if u ask me.

Unless its a sigificant jump to 2.0ltr or 2.4ltr or even a TC one.

Then it will be a totally different driving experience.

I know cos i jump from OPC lancer cs3 1.6ltr to normal plate sonata 2.4ltr.........shiok man!!!! [laugh]

Before the exchange, i test-drive all sorts of cars from 1.6ltr one to 2.4ltr to TC one. The jump from 1.6ltr to 2.4ltr is just nice, not too a overwhelming change and soft on the $pocket$.

Besides, this 2.5yr old sonata only cost me 44.8k back then. Ever since have been driving it for 3+ years liao and enjoying it very much. ^_^

If i were you,

I would stick to vios...

No point changing your vios to a forte...Unless it's something bigger like Civic, etc

Besides, it's not even the new car or 6spd auto...

Why don't you use the excess money to "upgrade" your vios...

Like better tyres, new brake, suspensions, etc
