So now all those that drink n drive will just keep a bottle of wine/beer/whiskey in their car...

see a road block, stop the car by the road side, open the bottle and drink...

so u will get fine for obstruction? illegal parking? but definitely not drink driving, cause you drank after you stopped the car by the roadside....

Justice Chong said the prosecution did not present any proof that he was unfit to drive. It had merely tried to show that his alcohol level was above the legal limit of 35 micrograms per 100ml of breath.

However, Worrall's lawyers, Mr Gurdip Singh and Mr Jagjit Gill, had argued that their client's reading of 94 micrograms was due more to his having drunk wine after the accident.

As the car could not be moved, he left it where it was and went up to his apartment. There, he took four Panadol tablets for the pain in his chest and opened a bottle of wine. At about 11.30pm, he went down to the condominium's lobby to meet a police officer, and was arrested for drink-driving.

its because the test was conducted 'late' - he go home take panadol drink wine! best man... next time set aside a can of beer when u drive. stop road block quickly drink that last can and voila! [laugh]

Actually, I heard of people doing this in US.

Its even fixture in a popular TV series. A man Was drunk driving & hit something on the raod, & can't moved his car. He called his lawyer, & the lawyer told him, finish his wine.

Well, as unbelievable as its sound, still more credible than the "tree branch" story right? AT least, this can still visualize a possibility.

[dizzy] if thats not tacit intent to conceal his drink driving prior to accident, then i don't know what is

Remember Lexus Cleopatra? She almost killed the Mat and she got away scott free. The same rules apply for White Boy.

Don't understand what it means that not driving with due care & attention.

If not driving with due care & attention, a lot of the women drive will kenna liao, as many have very little sense of surrounding other than front view...oops

Just kidding.

to be frank, i dun think it's because the judge or law is biased but because his defending lawyers are too smart!

Err...

hate to burst everyone's bubble, but this guy "got off" because the prosecuter screwed up, not because of preferential treatment.

From what it looks like, they produced "evidence" that he had been drinking and driving, but he was not convicted of drinking and driving, he was convicted of something else - something that they didn't show evidence to prove it.

Well, strange how prosecutors are so "ineffective" and "careless" when wealthy expats are involved... coincidence?? Drink driving is such a basic, simple charge - I find it unbelievable how this slip-up could happen.

Anyway, it's all water under the bridge now. What i know is this: if some ordinary unlucky guy has a little too much to drink, then later gets stopped at a police roadblock while driving, then tries some silly stunt like downing some more alcoholic drink to foil the breathalyser test..... think court will excuse him?

Basically the court didn't explain: what's to stop people from keeping a can of beer in the glovebox and trying the same trick??
