Not really, just tested the Golf, the car was nice, price was reasonable, but during test drive, the gearbox keep on stuck at 3rd gear, must stop shift to N then D the the gearbox runs fine,i wonder is this the common DSG Sympton.?

I don't think this is a common issue... the main problem is just vibrating on 1-3 gears... else everything is pretty ok

Buying a car with a gearbox vibrating on first 3 gears is very bad,i don't think any other brand got a 'Vibrating gearbox'.

Audi problem is even worse, Even topgear jeremy clarkson said audi is worst than a china make car.

I cannot live with such defects especially after 4 yrs of driving. My take is to bite the bullet n change the ride.

Back in 2005 then I used to drive a silly speed gear train car. Won't say the brand. Gave me similar experience as the VW. I bit the bullet in 2007 (2 yrs of usage only!) n changed to a Jap ride. I'm still driving the same Jap ride for 6 yrs with zero issues. Just mere servicing n change of wear and tear parts.

With kids now I cannot afford the time to have my car at workshop now and then. It is to serve a greater purpose and not to be frequenting the workshop.

TS, if u can't live with it just change ride. Jap is ok.

rumor says audi quietly switching to ZF's 8 speed also seen in bmw cars

True,ZF are good tranmission, only the DSG are problematic, but these cars with ZF Auto are mainly big CC type of cars like Audi A8 & BMW 5 or 7 series, not on small cars.

Or just go for a Lexus GS. Reliable, more comfortable and quieter than most if not all conti makes and lower maintenance costs.

maybe they can market the "fault" as a "feature" . Fuzzy logic monitoring. The car will actively monitor the driver and front passenger's stress level through sophisticated and wide ranging sensors. Upon detecting fatigue , will send a cool and calming wave of soothing throbs for a soothing, stress relieving session.

Then next time should you emerge the winner of a lucky draw, .. and have the option to choose between an Audi and a Chery, .. need to drive for 10 years, .. cannot sell, ... you'd choose the Chery without hesitation ya?

If you're not in sales & marketing, ... you should be.

That is an expensive option. But I'm thinking whether it's possible to indent a manual transmission and a set of foot pedals to replace the faulty dual clutch altogether. I know have to inform LTA and do an inspection another issue is finding a workshop who can do it. For the money spent I think it is more worth while dan say letting your car to sit in the AD workshop for ages but yet the problem persist. Breaking down by the roadside. Money spent on replacing the transmission when warranty expire. Or change to another car.

I would rather go thru the trouble of replacing the gearbox to a good old manual tranny. Especially when I really like the car.

Of course one should take the Audi, sell it, and buy a couple of Chery cars. :D
