Bluetree Neutral Newbie January 12, 2012 Share January 12, 2012 Thanks. The most scary part of driving at the highway is when you begin to feel sleepy and to a stage when you just can't stop your eyes from closing.
GoodCar 4th Gear January 12, 2012 Share January 12, 2012 As most Singaporean are not use to long distance driving....sorry to say this. Below are a few tips Learn to relax your body during the drive, move your body a bit so they don't get stiff. Remember to breath in a relax manner. And ensure proper hydration. Focus on the drive and not try to speed with other car. The objective is to cover and enjoy the long drive. Don't over inflat or under inflate the tyre. At high speed, tyre burst can be very dangerous. Do not road haul the extreme right lane, filter left once you over take a slower car. Drive safe and be humble, all the best :)

GoodCar 4th Gear January 13, 2012 Share January 13, 2012 (edited) Sg to Penang around 700 to 800KM.Drive alone very tired I drove alone, actually quite enjoy it if you break up the trip and not rush with time. Give yourself 10 hrs to enjoy the ride with break in between in some smaller town. Alternately, nitestop at Malacca or KL. We have to take away out city dweller mentality once awhile to get back to our natural self. Let the children enjoy the kampong, great landscape, see chicken running, breath in the fresh air and smell the green green glass. I like the road after Ipoh as it has altitude and winding. You will feel that your car lost power a bit due to the thinner air. On day of low atmospheric pressure and with low cloud, you can touch the cloud. But do remember to turn on the fog light. IMHO, I think it is juku to drive with hazard light on on raining or foggy day Use a gps voice guidance to chk your speed n progress, learn to be a good driver and cultivate the virtue of patients during the long ride. GoodCar 4th Gear January 13, 2012 Share January 13, 2012 (edited) Hi all. Was thinking of driving up to Penang later this month. Just curious, what are the good hotels over there? And besides the yummy food, what are the attractions that Penang has to offer. Thanks ! Try the penang laksa at Air Hitam market, but many wife n gf may not like becos it is next to a wet market and sometime can see rat running. Those not so adventure or sissy one also better go atas place becos quite local place lor. But the Penang laksa there is one of the best You will pass by there on your way to the kek lok si temple. Can also buy Penang famous goody there at local price, some of the shop just renovated, quite nice. Penang I feel generally more safe and peaceful than JB. It was like Singapre in the old day. Dwoon 1st Gear January 14, 2012 Share January 14, 2012 You forgot to mention the police tower at the elevated stretch to catch motorists over the speed limit. Penang traffic can be quite horrendous at peak hours.
