Look ma, no pillar (B)!

Looks cool to be without the b pillars. But then would safety be compromised somehow?

I would think that a car with b pillars would be better able to withstand side impacts compared to a car without b pillars. without the b pillars, the doors will be resting solely on the roof and floor of the car, so physics-wise this seems like a weaker structure.

i see. they had to strengthen the doors to prevent them from crumpling in during side impacts. if the safety-wise there is no compromise, then it's a good and cool design =)

No, it's based on the Fiesta 5 seater.

The sliding doors would add much weight and upset the balance of the car. [thumbsdown]

i suggest those who are ignorant not comment at all. Are you part of their engineering team? heavier doors yes but at a fraction of the vehicle's body, enough to unbalance the car?

Same as RX8 right?

yes, similar. but rx8 need to open front door den can open back door.

if im not wrong, this ford can open independently. not to mention the rear is sliding and not swinging.

so yes, both cars are w/o b pillar. but concept works differently.
