Bicycle Rack Behide The Car

Just wondering nowsaday many car driver carry bicycle behide their car if met any accident from the rear their bicycle spoil. Does the insurance cover the bicycle also or the driver who hit his back must pay [confused][confused][confused] ???

I suppose it is possible to claim insurance if it is clearly demostrated that the party who hits the rear is at fault, just like medical claims for injuries to passengers.

However, I understand it is illegal to leave the rear rack on if not carrying any bicycles so rear party can possiblly also do a counter claim.

Just my 2c.

I think TS is asking about compensation for damage to the bicycle.

 

Speaking of those who drive with the bike carrier still attached (but without bikes), please spare a thought for other road users, especially bikers. If they crash into your rack, they might be killed by the protruding parts.
