If considering Mazda 3,Lancer Ex,Forte and this,I would get the Avante without hesitation.

I feel K5 is still the benchmark in design for the Jap/Kor big sedan segment.

Exterior is nice but feel that interior a bit over done.

May be Hyundai should also headhunt a designer from Germany or Italy.

The pre-launch price is $79,999.

Confirm features for the car is an updated 1.6L engine from the current Avante, which produces 130bhp (as claimed by the salesman), but isn't the 1.6GDI 140bhp engine.

It'll come with 6 speed auto (as seen in the 2011 Forte), Chrome grilles and front fog lights, local fitted leather seats, Rear view Camera on the rear view mirror, Climatic Air-conditioning, Radio Control, 2 Airbags, iPod/USB Dock.

Specs in question are Auto Headlights and Wipers (which the Forte has), paddle shifters (Forte has), Cruise Control, Electric Driver's seat, Keyless entry and Ignition (Forte Has), and Bluetooth Connectivity (Again, Forte has it).

All in all, the specs seem pretty good, considering how barren speced the current Avante is. KMC has indeed woken up to the fact that the main competitor of the Avante is the Kia Forte, packaged by C&C.

Will the price of the new avante be in the price range of 80-90k when it reach our shore?

Afterall, the interior legroom and headroom is still a question mark ...

Rear headroom will definitely be a problem, considering that it has a sloping rear roofline. I've sat in the Kia K5 and Hyundai i45, and being 1.7m tall, my hair is brushing the top of the car when I sit upright. I can't imagine what the situation would be for someone taller.

Reviews have pointed out too that one has to duct his/her head to get in and out of the rear seats, but in terms of rear legroom, the New Avante has grown in size. It'll be a tad more spacious than the outgoing Avante.

oh...

hope the coe will go back to norm. when this car arrive on our shore otherwise it will be over-priced...

COE may never go back to the norm (Sub $20k levels) anytime soon. Cos the way I see it, thank goodness LTA decided to stagger the Quota Cut over this 1yr period. Next year, they'll review it again, and may not be so generous.

And it's until cars registered between 2005 to 2008 (where the car population exploded due to low COE prices) are deregistered and probably scrapped or exported, that we get to have a 1-for-1 Quota. Because when the earliest 2005 badge of cars reach 10yrs, which is 4yrs from now, COE would be probably too expensive to renew. They'll then have to scrap the car. But such owners would get a new car then, making the 1-for-1 void. So for the gahmen to release more COE, is to have such driver's not drive after their cars reach 10yrs.

Then again, they may come out with new policies in the future. And they're replacing the Toyota Crown taxis with Chevrolet Epica's and Renault Latitudes. Come 5yrs from now, they'll be replacing the Hyundai Sonata's.

So it'll be a vicious cycle exploited all over again.

I suppose so. If you find the Kia K5 and Hyundai i45 lacking in legroom and headroom, the Avante won't be better.

At 80k, it is a good price with today's COE prices. Compared to a CIVIC 1.6A at above 100k or a 1.6 ALTIS at 90 plus, the new Avante is very good alternative.

Cannot compared the Avante and K5 as they are different class.K% should be compared with the I45.
