Badder Neutral Newbie March 2, 2011 Share March 2, 2011 that's why i said you are my hero, brake from the speed of 6th to 2nd, and managed to rev-match with that accuracy. i persoanlly need at least a heel/toe in between. ahh... of course if you start from a low rev 6th and rev match to 2nd is another story. i assume you brake from at least 120km at 6th within power band? and rev match back to power band again? noooo - I heal and toe! impossible to rev match unless you heal and toe. I like my gearbox to stay in one piece! if im braking from 6th then i guess id be at around 200 - 245km/h depending on the circuit ↡ Advertisement
Crazybugger 1st Gear March 2, 2011 Share March 2, 2011 You driving vintage car? I only double de-clutch on some bigger trucks years back. yes i drive a 36 yr old car ... but if you intend to keep your car for long time, always good idea to preserve your gear box. replacement new/rebuilt gearbox not cheap - not much point getting junk yard gearbox coz likely its also worn out or near worn out. Crazybugger 1st Gear March 2, 2011 Share March 2, 2011 Can share with us how it is suppose to work? I am puzzled. The engine speed idling at around 800rpm when you stopped at the red traffic lights. The gearbox at 0rpm. How to match engine speed to 0rpm? Switch off the engine? not too sure about this one ... maybe someone here can explain how the 1st gear works? Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear March 2, 2011 Share March 2, 2011 yes i drive a 36 yr old car ... but if you intend to keep your car for long time, always good idea to preserve your gear box. replacement new/rebuilt gearbox not cheap - not much point getting junk yard gearbox coz likely its also worn out or near worn out. Synchronised gears came in around that time, and many were/are without it. My dad had a Austin 8 van that had quite durable gearbox, although he did not taught me to double de-clutch with it. Crazybugger 1st Gear March 2, 2011 Share March 2, 2011 oh yes ... now i remember when the car is not moving, the gears in the gearbox are not moving, so you can slip in 1st gear without any problem. ↡ Advertisement
