White EVO speeding along changi coast road

Actually, groups of cyclist do ride across the Causeway to ride to Desaru.

You will be surprised that the Malaysian drivers are actually more tolerant of cyclist than the drivers in Singapore. Most would not honk at cyclist whom may even be hogging the road.. So, please do not try to tarnish the Malaysian drivers.

Holding up traffic riding up to Genting and Cameron Highlands and you will still not be honked at. try doing that at Mt Faber.

Again, it is really the attitude of both riders and drivers that count..

Bro, I think you are missing the point here.

Does making more rules improve safety on the road? I doubt so.

Changi coastal road already lined with speed limit strips, warning signs and even the cyclist AHEAD signs.

Don't tell me any of us here misses this?

Isn't it odd the OT wrote this complain about irresponsible and dangerous motorist, yet some had began to place blame on other road users?

If one cannot understand that shared responsibility, then that sadly reflects the lack of maturity in some of us.

When that character gets behind the wheel, he or she, is not driver, but a potential murderer.

More rules save life? Only to a certain extend.

how peculiar..the topic is on white EVO speeding who is clearly in the wrong..turned out to be a cyclist bashing threads..just because of internet anonymity pple typed all sorts of nonsense.. <_<

Anybody out there knows the driver of a white EVO that likes to speed down Changi coast road? This morning (Sun) was the second time I saw him, so probably something he/she does often, I guess. Speeding at least 150-170km/h. Saw same thing 2 weeks back. Doesn't he/she realize that there are lots of cyclists on a Sunday? Please lah, can go speed in the afternoon, or at night, but not Sunday morning lah....

So fast ?? Better report to the authorities before he hurt someone. Public roads are meant to be shared, though I like to go fast too but we ought to think of other road users. [cool]

Your photo says it out. Many a times, I have met cyclists as such. They hog a whole lane and zig zag in and out. Worse of all, we are supposed to stay 150m away? How to? I wonder.

And yes, they are dressed in gear etc.

Bro, when u see those bloody cyclists ride 1 lane, side by side occupy the whole damm 3 lane. Then every bus n lorry or watever s--t needs to siam them, u will wonder r they doing the right thing.

Of course, by asking should they be sharing the road with us in the first place?

Selfish is 1 thing, disregard ur life is another.

Usually the ones who occupy the whole lane r those in full gear n attire.

So many parks, even the whole stretch of ECP not enough ??

Cyclists in SG all think big fark, want cars to give way.

If you think its right, try doing it across the causeway.

See how long you take to become a pancake. Hope the Evo can wipe a few cyclists at a time.

I think a lot of them do not want to cycle at East coast park due to the many kids, people & inline skaters. Anyway, I am not a cyclist. The last time I cycle (last dec) was only to prepare for my trip to the Netherlands.

For me, road tax is a minor or non-issue. Main thing is they cycle anyhow they like. against the traffic also can, green light also go, red light also go. like they are untouchable. i saw many times cars have to jam break when clearly the cyclist should not have done something and its not reasonable to put the onus on the driver to look out for crazy cyclists. i tink if cyclist were required to go through licensing (pass basic theory at least) and more importantly let traffic rules apply to them fully, it would be much better for everyone - cyclists, drivers and even pedestrians (a car trying to avoid crazy cyclist may hit innocent pedestrian).

Whist i agree as a driver we should take due care on other road users but other road users should also take due care and kamikaze cycling is certainly not due care.

+1

It is the attitude of both sides and not how much we pay.. Those that think that cyclist do not pay road tax thus should stay away from the roads live in a world of their own.

I was formerly competitive cyclist and when I see those that "chiong" red lights in the name of "training" or ride 3 or 4 abreast (do note that 2 abreast is legal and the correct way), I cringe. It is a real stupid thing to do, and if they do get into accidents, well, they have themselves to blame.

you guys are kinda unfair to the cyclists. did you know cycling on pavement can kena fine?

dont always think got pay road tax means road is yours.

if bicycle cycle on pavement bang ppl blame cyclist.

cycling go on road kena bang still blame cycling.

if my father income tax more than ppl salary. means i own them?

What's the correlation?

ECP has alot of children and families using the track and it is quite dangerous to cycle fast there. And I rmb seeing a newspaper article recently reporting that there is a 30km/h speed limit for these cycling tracks.

Across the causeway they tolerate cyclist alot more than singapore motorists. I have cycled to KL before and there they really give u enough space when they overtake. There was even a guy who stopped and help to send one of the cyclists in my group to the doctor when he hit a pothole and fell.

Ah tiong cyclist are more dangerous & crazy than sporean cyclist lay..

My observations for the last 4 years:

One Indian immigrant cyclist crashed into my stationery bike

One Chinese immigrant cyclist hit by car

One local cyclist fell onto my stationery bike

One local cyclist cycked into path of oncoming car

Two local cyclists cycled suicide-stytle across pedestrian crossing without looking out for my car

Countless Chinese immigrant cyclists cycled suicide-style across pedestrains crossing

Many/more Chinese immigrant cyclists cycled agaiinst traffic flow

Countless local/immigrant cyclists cycled Lane 2 & 3 at the same time

Hope you got better caculator than mine (laugh)

By your definition that cyclist do not pay road tax thus should stay off the road, does that mean since I own 2 cars and a motorbike with a combined total of 4100cc, thus probably paying more road tax than you do, I can ask you to get off the road when I drive or cycle since MAYBE you pay less road tax?

I would urge that you try to find out more with regards to the profile of cyclists nowadays. Its no longer a sport for boys and definitely not for those who can ill afford the price tag of a bike, which more often than not are paid in full. Most of the cyclists are professionals and do own cars, and these are vehicles that may put yours to shame.

So, please, it is the attitude of the cyclist that counts, not whether he or she pays road tax.

Changed topic?

Long ago, it was necessary for all cyclist to apply for a license and display the disc if they intend to ride on the main road. It was also necessary for all licensed cyclist to obtain a pass in their highway code before they could ride on the commuter roads.

It was a big mistake for the LTA, or should I say, the former ROV to lift the rule.

Although there is no guarantee that licensed cyclists make safer cyclists, at least they are made aware of traffic rules here.

Serious cyclists should petition for the rule to be brought back for their own sake and for the sake of the other cyclists who share the roads with the cars. So far it is only HOT AIR both from the cyclists and the govt and nothing more.

And for the reckless EVO driver. Darwin's Law will take care of it.

Got flamed last year for doing that (many/most of them prefer risk of accidents)

I have a suggestion, but I think a lot of people will throw eggs at me.

Me certain stretch of roads (less used roads) that is cyclists only on Sunday or public holiday for certain periods. That way, cyclist can cycyle all they wanted, & drivers do not have to worry about knocking cyclists.

Pulau Ubin?
