Auto timer problem

Hi bros and sis I tried to install the original Apexi pen type auto timer on my Copen, but went to 5 WS all don't know how to fix, then say Apexi can't be used on Copen. but another friend of mine using replica one did and working fine on his copen so he say replica can fit and original one can't. What BS. Then went to buy HKS turbo timer also same problem. Engine will stall when turn off key. Have to rev til 2K RPM then can start countdown with engine running. A mech checked my friend set up and said his was installed with a diode and a relay near the timer console. Anyone know what is that diode and reply for coz mech himself also scratching head. Or anyone know of a place can intro me with pro who can really deal with wiring and install timer? Even went to audio WS also can't help. His was the 6th WS I visited and to no avail..

hi there, ive just installed my apexi tt for my copen at www.mycarshop. it works well, no problem so far. If u have 2-way alarm syatem with tt function, pls bring along ur alarm manual.

Daihatsu's always have problems with Apexi timers. My previous YRV Turbo also couldn't work with the Apexi, until I exchanged it for a Razo turbo timer.

Razo timer can just install and use? My apexi can't use, my HKS also can't when the forum guys said can.. Anyone have any idea where can I get it fix?

So he fixed for your Copen? Who should I find? Then your car need to rev then turn off key or just turn off as normal and engine will keep running?

that shop have only 1 man doing e installation. ive e habbit to rev before off, never try auto off to keep engine run.

is it possible to try off your engine without revving and tell me if the engine still runs? Thanks! Right now mine need to rev then will run.. Dont want that..

My cheapo china-made turbo timer also has the same problem. However it is not as severe as your problem.

 

All I need to do is rev up to only 1k RPM and turn off the ignition. Works everytime. From my many years of experience in driving turbocharged car, for the timer to work, it is normal to rev the engine to 1k+ rpm before turning the key off. But 2k rpm is just a bit too high.

yea coz if i don't rev as I said engine will stall.. Rev too little engine cut off then restart again. Rev to 2K rpm then can run smoothly.. But by right it was not suppose to be like that right? I mean should keep running without revving..

Thats why I never install such things in my car. More electronics, more issues.

 

If needed, just wait in the car until cool off then turn off engine. Takes maybe 30 sec max lah. Otherwise, just ease off throttle when you are about to reach your destination. Then no need much cool down.

i have not seen the wiring diagrams of auto timer before but logically, it has to tap into your car ignition switch and the ecu as well for o2 detect..the diode is very likely there to remove oscillation in relay. i guess the design possibly forgotten to take that into consideration in the first place..one way to make it work is to have a dirty throttle body or insensitive response...hahaha just joking

 

don't fit such thing if your's a NA or running small a turbo..does nothing and waste petrol..the o2 sensor detect is a joke too..

Hmm.. I took it out for a period of time then sometimes rushing late for work can't stay there and wait haha! Morning jam is the worst.. What my friend told me is that the ignition fir the timer and Copen is diff so the engine stall need a relay and diode so that the power will not surge causing the engine to stall.. Too technical already you guys got easier explanation? Hehe

honestly speaking , how much do you need to cool down a 660cc tiny turbo ride?

it's ok without a auto/turbo timer . mine came free with the car , i had it set in "off" mode.

pretty useless thing.

 

 

if you have 2 such units sitting there useless, sell it off , get some money back and spend on petrol better.
