Ahhuat 1st Gear February 14, 2011 Share February 14, 2011 i had agree to most of your post except for this stupid elites mentality that ppl who send their childern to PCF are Ah Lian and Ah Beng. i study as hard as you and is consider a Nerd in my school days. but i still prefer to send my children to PCF and teach and correct them at home. you where pain?? to me those expensive childcare are over rated. till date, i dont see much different in the children except maybe some speak with a slang. the only different real i see is the arrogant parents nia. BTW, those ah lian and Ah beng you mention. no mola to send children to childcare one. haha.. my point exactly. agree with you totally! FYI, you send ur kids to PCF? I came from PCF! and I turned out pretty ok. But in my time it was called PAP Kindergarten but that's a story for another day. I have nothing against PCF and also nothing against those who send their kids to brand name kindergartens. What I have a beef with is those who didnt work hard, cant afford crap or worse, have the money but are unwilling to spend.. but want more than what they pay for, which in this case is queen's english principal for the peanuts they pay! If they really want queen's english principal, either should have worked harder so they can earn more, or be less miserly with their money and pay for it! Turbine Neutral Newbie February 14, 2011 Share February 14, 2011 (edited) You can take somebody to the station but you fetch or collect them from the station. To fetch means to go after and bring back. http://www.english-test.net/forum/ftopic1955.html How is fetch a problem? More to come. In dictionaries Fetch can apply to SOMEBODY or HUMANS. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fetch http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/features/dic...mp;search=fetch http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/fetch_1 Edited February 14, 2011 by Turbine
Turbine Neutral Newbie February 14, 2011 Share February 14, 2011 In your Fetch example is correct, because the child return to the parent himself/herself. But if the parent go and bring the children home from school, fetch is still grammatically correct. ↡ Advertisement
